President Obama was born in 1961. He was too young to have ever been subjected to the Draft.

Deferments were easily had back in the '60's. If you were married, in college, or had a disqualifying physical ailment, you could get a deferment.

If you were classs 1A, that meant you could be drafted at any time. A draft dodger was someone who was classed 1A and refused to go when called. Or someone who simply never Registered.

If you had a legal deferment, you were not a draft dodger in the legal sense.
