Default Hong Kong

I was going to post underneath "Hong Kong" and in the discussion and review section under that forum but didn't have access.

I've toyed with the idea of going to Hong Kong and working but I have two reservations. One, well market. And two, the legalities of it.

Does anyone know about working in Hong Kong?

Thanks,
Elisabeth

Exclamation Exciting Place

I have been to Hong Kong and I know it is an exciting place. It's an expensive place, but gold and diamonds were reasonably priced when I was there.

I wouldn't know about the specifics about how a working girl would get set up there, but I would think the language would be the first barrier to overcome. Most people speak a little English, but it's choppy at best.

You should probably visit and reconnoiter the place before you decide, but I would think there would be plenty of better choices right here in the US than going to a foreign country unless you just want to travel.

Default Hong Konb

Beth,
I would suggest if you are travelling you can so that on the side to cut your cost but to work there full time is not a good way to make a good living in Hong Kong. The competition is too much to get a good rate. Unless you know the "insider circle", that requires you speak the language (Cantonese) and know how things work in China (Hong Kong). It is not what you know! It is who you know! Most of the girls work at this bussiness controlled or connected to the Gangs. If you are not careful and know what you get into, you may put yourself in a lot of trouble.

I grew up there and live in Hong Kong and Asia areas for more than 36 years. I came to USA 15 years ago for better opportunity for my kids. I have been travelled back and for to Hong Kong and China in the last 10 years.

I attached couple of links below; just give you some ideas about the lobbying there looks like. For 45 minutes session it cost less the US$50.

If you go to http://hongkong.craigslist.hk/search/ers/?query=w4m
most of the hobbyist would be tourist from other counties who doesn't know the "local market", would pay a lot higher price for the same or not any better service than the "local girl provides.

The only other way to get in Hong Kong Escort business is be a Diamonds and Tuxedos girl. There are quit a few billionaires in Hong Kong and China, they will pay high price for Educated, elegance, and sophisticated companions. If you are one of them you don’t need to live in Hong Kong, they will pay you to travel there just for a day or weekend companionship. If you are cater to those with expensive tastes, lavish lifestyles, and an appetite for upscale entertainment, all you need is to advertise at the appropriate web sites or magazine. With these group of hobbyist you don't need to know their language, most of them can speak English. Once you get "inside" their "circle", you don't have to unpack your suit case. Some time two of three of them will get together and get you a luxury apartment; you would become “their” mistress. If you like the live style and decided to stay, in a few years you could choose to retire or settle down with a normal life.

FYI the escort business in China is blooming too, the quality is better and the cost is lower, it just a matter of "if you know where to find them"!

Good advice. I would have to agree and it has not change much in the last 15 years since you left in that regard. I lived there as well, not working in this industry and would have to agree - it is not what you know - it is who you know. As well, Diamonds and Tuxedos- you do need to know the language.

There is a lot I could say about working in HK as a Westerner, but will save it for the blog. Eventually.

To quickly answer your questions Elisabeth: it does not matter in the least that you don't speak Cantonese since you aren't an Asian woman. You will probably be charging more than the local girls and will hit a different market. Will a few brave local men or the Westerners in HK want a larger, older woman? I don't know. Neither do you until you try -- but it's an expensive gamble, to say the least. If the gamble works -- you have your niche all to yourself.

Legalities: prostitution is legal only within very strictly defined boundaries. Advertising online and doing outcalls, or having incalls in your hotel room fall within those bounds. However, my meeting with the sex workers at Zi Teng made it abundantly clear that the HK cops treat the sex workers even worse than US cops, despite the quasi-legal status of what they do. It was eye-opening and awful.

That being said, the HK police probably would not bother much with a Westerner in this business. Besides, Western females are known for being full of their own opinions and being "loud" and Asian males prefer not to deal with it.
