looks like she (the painter) took a photograph, blew it up and slapped on paint until the features were flat and indistinguishable, painting the background was a breeze and viola!

but she did get those awesome michelle arms in if not her actual face

the disgraced barack is identifiable but that was by another painter however the background does look a little suspicious

maybe she is an affirmative action social justice painter

Wikipedia says her critics suggest her stylistic choices hide a limited understanding of color, with regard to painting technique, as opposed to her thematic "strong point" of race.

a veritable maya angelou of painters

gotta fawn to not be racist but the emperor has no clothes

btw as they say in todays leftist world, isn't michelle's long flowing hair cultural appropriation?

If you do a "portrait" of someone, shouldn't it look like the subject matter?

That looks like an impressionist version of Kerry Washington.

First of all both artists on a social scale are unbelievable and pushing boundaries while also providing nuance callbacks to old world portraits.

But specifically, the first lady's portrait was inspired completely by the Mondrian inspired milly dress she wore which signified her melding of pragmatism and couture. The robin egg blue background is serene and empty while her actual person is messy and full of harsh lines. It is truly a work of art that defines the Obama era. I have no problem with other people's political views, but don't shame two perfectly sound artists who captured the moment in an abstract and profound way- which is my my opinion- a perfect metaphor for the Obama era.

Bullshit! If a white president chose a white artist who had painted images of white women beheading blacks, the hysterical outrage of the left couldn't be measured on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. You and your lib-retard ilk do not get a fucking pass on this! Odumbo chose an overtly racist artist to paint his portrait.

Art is meant to make you feel something, which clearly you do.

I am an independent and do not affiliate myself with either (tard) ends of the spectrum. But I do embrace the immense impact that Wiley's art brings about.
The paintings that everyone is referencing are interpretations of the biblical story of Judith beheading the Assyrian general Holofernes.

It is supposed to empower and bring about profound thought while questioning racial lines.

Art should make you uncomfortable. Art should make you feel. Art should make you angry. "The way to create art is to burn and destroy ordinary concepts and to substitute them with new truths that run down from the top of the head and out of the heart." (Charles Bukowski)

Note: the artist I was originally commenting on was not Wiley, who I respect as an artist for pushing boundries by using hip hop and homeerotic images in her paintings - but since you wanted to re ignite the topic I also gave my cents on that

Oh, that's Michelle Obama? I didn't recognize her without her fat thighs forced inside one of those pencil skirts they laughably thought she looked good in.

Her arms are way to long much like a.... well I won’t say it. As for her face it looks more like Malia or Sasha then Michelle’s.
