I completely agree. I know that there is one person i would definantly push the "dont like" button.... Some things that are done are not fair and when only one side of the story is being told then it affects your business with out you being able to do anything about it......

And you missed MY point. There are people who NEVER post here. If they can hit a button once then they can leave a thought.

As for being a discussion board, maybe that is true in your area but in Austin we have guys who say" oh yes just leave a comment" and when the ladies D.E.W. they use Saul Alinsky tactics to discourage us from posting like patting us on the head and saying "now go back and bury your head in the sand" or "you can just go back to bed now" and sometimes even worse. So the gals quit posting, we could like a button.

There are plenty of discussions that occur in the Austin Forums as well as more than a few "ladies" that do not bother to read before they post or have a view of the hobby in Austin that is no longer reflective of the current setting.

I think a button would be counter productive to what the owners want which is to grow the board.

There is already a way to rate a thread from 1 to 5 with 1 being terrible and 5 being excellant....

people don't avail themselves of that enough already.....

Ya know Dagney...... As the guy some of the ladies tend to disagree with the most in the Austin Forums, Austin sure has changed 180 degrees from where it used to be. That didn't occur without a whole lot of like minded individuals with the same train of thought.....

Girls coming to the section with fresh views and light banter are welcomed with open arms....

Only a few of the old ones that refuse to adapt to the changes deal with what your alluding to.

as someone who has been around for 10 years you can put me in the "old ones" column.

I have seen the boards where the guys and the gals speak respectfully to each other and flirt and banter.

yes I have seen it change 180 where if I guy doesn't like a gals weight or whatever he doesn't stay quiet, but slams her publicly.

You are right, I refuse to adapt to that kind of change.

Default That would be a great idea.

I know that few cock blockers that like to trash others are not the majority. This board should be for information not trashing the chick that refuses you service.

Lots of people won't hit the RMT button but would say "don't like"

I have hit the RMT several time lately and gotten NO COMMENT from mods so I guess they must have been deleted by someone.

If people saw a 15 "don't like" maybe they would be encouraged to comment or D.E.W. the same.

If the poster saw 15-100 don't likes maybe he would understand that he isn't as funny/great as he thinks he is.

Ok Dagny D.E.W., I will make 1 more attempt to help you (as I'm not trying to bash your idea, but to make it a useful tool to inform), in RR when someone saids or does something to you that you don't like, Do you just say nothing and take it or do do speak up so it doesn't happen again? As there's no point in anonymously saying you don't like something without saying why so others understand where you are coming from. You should never just take it and bury your head in the sand, cause when you do that the abuse doesn't stop, and only you can speak up for yourself.

So if your Don't Like Button came with a requirement of a comment stating why, then if the first person to hit it stated a reason (which at that point it's known that the post is not liked), and if you agree with them, you then hit their like button, or if their reason is different than yours then you would hit the Don't like button and state your reason for Dislike. This way when you meet someone new they know what not to do in your presents avoiding unnecessary DRAMA.

And with many posts, people could dislike them for so many different reasons such as:
  1. They have selective reading (just as some have selective hearing).
  2. They misinterpreted the post.
  3. They experienced something different in that scenario.
  4. They only read the posts of page 4 of a thread and the poster is responding to another post on page 2
There are many more such reasons, so just hitting a button with no comment doesn't help others to understand your view point, and without a comment that leaves your button more as a tool for those that just like bashing another's post whether the post is valid or not!!
