regarding india. I would not call them an ally.

yes, we are friendly with them.

they buy a lot of russian equipment.

some of it really bad, like that lemon aircraft carrier (same type of carrier china has; Lianing) they bought from the Russians and they bowed out of the SU-57 program. looks like they were afraid of being burned again.
