This can be as uncomfortable as you make it..
ive ran into numerous of my clients and each time
i treat them like a stranger.. not because im embarassed
but each time i was in the company of personals lol

It was really weird because once i had a client yell "LADIBUG"
across the store then began heading toward me.. . OMG! i literally left my
bags at the register and got out of there! i didnt recognize him so i couldnt
contact him and tell him about himself but after the embarassment faded away
i died laughing thinking wow, i must of really left an impression for him to
remember me

I would think the casual hi how are you, like you would do if you passed any stranger in such a setting. If there is the slightest glimmer of happy recognition, message later and comment.

I've had this happen to me several times. There is a stripper lady I see at the club and otc. She will walk into the store I work at dressed in her civilian clothes and buy things from me. I will say nothing to her and she says nothing to me. I do give her a discount though. I'm as calm as I can be, but my co-workers get all hot and bothered when they see her.

I had an interesting situation. Wanted to hire someone for senior asst sec in the company for me. Hr manager screens three resume and candidates. It s supposed to be one hr group interview with two other managers and hr manager. So we started interviewing one day. Each interview one hr with 30 min break in between. The hr manager reads out the first sentence to the first candidate and makes it clear it is team decision and based on everyone's consensus. Guess what the third candidate the hot spinner I used to see three years back. She is looking at me to as if to recall where has she seen me and I am thinking of daty dato fiv and surborading. Thanks much the consensus reached was based on professional office work experience with touch of para legal experience and references and employment history, the hiring decision was someone else.

One thing I support if you see someone greet as you will great a stranger. Do not be surprised. I had to go to my car and change my shirt. It was soaked with sweat. This one was Portland oregon. Everyone is moving south due to opportunities.

Be courteous and professional.

In my opinion, if both parties are alone, then offer up a smile and maybe even say hello. If either have company with them, just move on as if you've never seen them before. After all, being discreet in real life is of the utmost importance.

I lived in a small town in GA and provided. I had a really funny experience with a guy in public. Was eating in a restaurant by myself & talking to the waitress then the unexpected. I see this guy grinning like hell at me from 2 tables away. Not only did he have a huge cheesy smile, he was sitting with his wife & baby. This went on for bout 30 minutes, when he went to leave he continued to smile and made eye contact, all while his wife was a few steps behind. Beats me. If you're smart enough to figure out what I look like outside of this, smile and speak I don't bite>

I've met a stripper (that I was a regular with) in public once, and I only smiled as we passed. She was with her daughter and I know the game enough that there are lines that you just don't cross. If you cross those lines (provider or customer) without prior agreements, then you're a douche.

I would think that it would be better for both parties if neither the acknowledged the other. While one may think it is okay to smile and nod, the other may find this inappropriate.

This is the key. HOW do you react to a stranger you pass in the hallway of the building where you work. If you normally nod and smile and say something, then do the same with the provider. If you ignore the stranger, then do the same with the provider. Don't change your standard pattern, that brings attention.
