https://www.foreignaffairs.com/artic...lock-democracy

critics are accusing him of breaking alot of accountability. amlo says he's doing that to remove corruption.

Wasn't there a recent former POTUS working on kingdom with his "PEN and PHONE". Bypass congress, bypass the Constitution, bypass the SCOTUS.

EL- DPST's are not capable of understanding your reference or the sarcasm.
This post is along the lines of Pelosi's fear that Trump won't vacate the WH if not -re-elected.

Can't One see her just wringing her hands in fear and dismay that Trump might not Leave!!!!!
More BS from the DPST's - Hypocritical Liars.

Thanks for posting that Dilbert. I registered and read the article. AMLO shouldn't be as extreme as Ortega and Chavez/Maduro. Unlike them, he doesn't come from a military or revolutionary background. Also, he didn't do terribly as mayor of Mexico City. He more or less worked with the private sector, and hired Rudy Giuliani to try to do something about crime. Reading the article, there is indeed a lot to disagree with him about, and some to agree with as well. In particular taking power out of the hands of the federal police was a great idea. For decades they've been bought and paid for by the narcotraficantes and other thugs. While he is too far left, Trump supporters can probably find some things to agree with him about. For one thing, he pretty much gave Trump what he wanted when it came to renegotiating NAFTA. For another, he like Trump (and Obama) isn't shy about concentrating power in the executive branch of government.

Tiny you can't compare Trump and Obummer in regards to their overreach of the executive branch's separation of powers.https://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-bl...on-a-legacy-of

The big difference is that Obama is sanctimonious and would either deny he overreached or say it's justified because of some kind of "the ends justify the means" reasoning. Trump on the other hand embraces executive overreach. Here are some examples that Democrats would cite. I don't agree with the Democrats on all of these by the way, in particular deregulation and firing Comey. Also, getting out of the Paris accord shouldn't count, because Obama signed us up without getting Congressional approval.

1. Issuing executive orders to modify regulations harmful to business

2. Firing James Comey

3. Allocating money for barriers on the border. Congress is supposed to have the power of the purse.

4. Imposing taxes on imports from China and on steel and aluminum, using the guise of national security to sidestep Congress

5. Undoing the Paris accord

6. Trying to get McConnell to end the ability of the minority to filibuster in the Senate

7. Pushing the Fed (unsuccessfully) to lower interest rates

Circling back to the topic at hand, Trump has found things to admire about strong leaders who aggressively use executive power, like Franklin Roosevelt, Putin, Xi, Duterte and Kim. If his supporters think similarly, that's something they might like about AMLO.
