Where do our rights come from?

The right to free speech and the right to keep and bear arms are both listed in the Bill of Rights which is a part of the Constitution. There has been a difference of opinion about the source of those rights though.

Our rights as US Citizens find their roots in the Constitution.

Since the Constitution can be amended, in a sense, it reflects the will of the people of the time.

However, since the Founders deliberately made the Amendment Process extremely difficult, it protects the Country from the petty whims of the moment by would be Demagogues

We see in the news how some Dictator will "suspend the Constitution" of his Country in order to stabilize the political scene or "protect the public". If one can do that, then the Constitution wasn't worth the paper it was written on.

Our Constitution, especially our Bill of Rights, is the closest thing thing to a sacred document that a secular society can have. It has stood the test of time, while being constantly bombarded from all sides of the political spectrum.

I think the Declaration of Independence says it all:

Hardly.

The "Constitution" merely protects our rights from government interference. Please read the "Constitution" and the "Bill of Rights" with following amendments again....the whole thing.

Here's the relevant wording of the 14th Amendment:

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

The language of the "1st amendment" regarding free speech says: "Congress shall make no law .."

.. if you read through all ten of them it follows that same thread of thought ...

They prohibit Congress (as applied to the states by the 14th amendment) from interfering with those rights. So those rights existed BEFORE government.
