Default WTF?

THREADS WHERE THE OP SPECIFICALLY SAYS THAT HE/SHE WANTS FEEDBACK FROM THE PROVIDERS.

The usual pattern is that at least half the comments in such threads are from men. Are they insane, actually think of themselves as women(!), have no reading skills, have no respect for the OP's information request. have no respect for the purpose of the board, have zero impulse control (which is to say, they have the emotional maturity of a 4-year-old) or WHAT? Needy little boys. Jesus Christ.

There was a thread recently where a guy actually launched his thread with the clear statement that he did not want to hear from the guys (linked below). To my surprise, he actually had a small effect on the usual pattern - instead of at least half of the comments being from men, it was down to a third (7 of 21 comments from men at the time I read the thread).

These guys are distracting from (interfering with) the purpose of the board - useful information exchange. By definition, a man cannot provide a woman's perspective....

In contrast, there was a recent thread where a provider asked for the men's perspectives on a subject AND NO WOMEN felt compelled to butt in.

But they are providing feedback from some of ladies they have seen. How is that not useful information exchange?

Thanks for the link. Made sure to add another comment to improve on the M/F posting ratio.

Useful information?

Respect?

It might be a welcome change, but your expectations of this board are too high.

Sleeping in a Holiday Inn Express last night doesn't really make you an expert...

Sorry, but it appears that you are the one who is confused about the purpose of a semi-public discussion forum. When one posts in a co-ed forum, one should comprehend that they will likely get co-ed replies. And when the membership is predominately male, there is a very good chance the predominant number of replies might be from males.

I understand that the OP was only interested in what the ladies think. There is a very simple answer: he can skip over or disregard any replies from guys. Just as he can disregard any ladies who post something he does not think appropriate. The purpose of a discussion board is to discuss. what the OP might not find useful in guys' replies, other people very well may.

If there were a cap on the number of posts allowed in a thread, then you would have a leg to stand on that a man's reply interferes with a lady's opportunity to answer--but that is not so.
