go there quite often. I can be though the border in 20 to 30 mins from my house. Perfectly wonderful place. Friendly people, much less gun crime and safer. You can walk the streets in niagarea falls Ontario at any time of night and not feel threatened. In niagara falls new york, it wouldn't be wise to walk in half the city during the DAYLIGHT hours.
Niagara falls ontario has seen 3 times the development as Niagara falls new york over the last few decades and has a vibrant tourist economy. The riverfront of Niagara falls new york is a barren heavily polluted wasteland. Remember love canal. It really embarassing.
This my country as much as it is yours and I'll do and say as I please. The relationship between the the people of western new york and southern ontario, Including toronto. is wonderful. Before 9-11, it' was almost like there was no border. I have more common with canadians than i do with people from the south or midwest and if I want interact with them isn't that my right to do so?

Ok, I may have jumped the gun on the Canada comment. Actually, I think Canada is a pretty impressive place. I had a similar experience when I lived in North Dakota, and visited Winnipeg frequently. That is a great city, as are other cities in Manitoba.

The Canadian health care system is the only type of single payer I would ever support, because their government does not micromanage care. My biggest complaint about Obamacare is the level of government involvement. That is not the case in Canada.

I think Canada is doing us a favor by routing the pipeline through the US, it would be better for both countries.

But don't give me the BS about "green jobs" and "smart growth." Those are simply methods for Obama to funnel money to his cronies. It has nothing to do with the environment.

And since you don't read my posts, I have often said that oil is a 19th century technology, and we should have been off it years ago, but for the oil lobby in Congress. That being said, I still think the jobs and economic benefit from the pipeline will be good for the US, as long as we remain an oil based economy. However, we need to find new solutions quickly.

Stopping this pipeline will do nothing for the environment, but allowing the market to come up with new technologies, without the government lining pockets of greedy businessmen. Instead of trying to "pick" winners, let's open up the market to allow people to develop cost effective and profitable alternative energy sources, then we might be able to save a few more of those 70,000 (dubious figure) lives.

Was this directed at me? I did read tour posts in this thread, you told me to go to canada like a pigheaded american. Seems you ASSUMED I didn't go there often. I've been there over 1,000 times, did you assume that?
You say that I look stupid, but then in tour next quote you say nice things about canada and basically agree with my points about the need to get off fossil fuel. When you said that jobs weren't important to dems , you assumed that they weren't. They just believed delaying the project for some more study was needed. this issue shouldn't be tied to a tax cut bill.
You probably don't realize this but china will develop and implement green energy on a large scale before we do.

Well, it's almost 2012 and it still hasn't imploded. Sounds more like the system needs a little tweaking, what system does run "optimally". Given canada spends far less per capita on health care than we do and their economy is strong. I'm sure they'll be able and WILLING to afford it.
It's not unusual for canadians to come to Buffalo for treatments. Some treatment available here aren't available there. Sometimes it's easier to come to Buffalo than go to Hamilton or toronto, for more specialized services. We even get Canadian doctor setting up practices here because they can make more money. But that doesn't mean their system is worse than ours.You can't ignore the fact that In canada. everyone is covered,they live longer and they do it more cheaply.
I haven't heard about the canadians going to mexico. You sure they don't just want to get out of the cold? In the winter florida is filled with Canadians. You convieniently fail to mention anything about americans, with lousy health insurance, who still have to go to India for sugery to avoid bankruptcy. Did you hear about the guy , in ohio I think,who died from a tooth infection a couple months ago.
Polls after poll shows that canadians like there insurance. I don't for aminute think it's perfect but you really cab't argue with the numbers. My own discussions with canadians on the subject usually include there disbelief that we don't have it and I've never had one say they didn't like their health coverage
