I have a friend who works for Treasure Island in Las Vegas.

He has done nearly every position for them.

He does not gamble and says " there is a reason why Las Vegas rebuilds itself every 10-15 years." "The odds are stacked so far against you to lose."

I personally don't have any problems with gambling. I would much rather spend my $$ with a quality provider or a nice dinner out than sitting at a slot machine.

I don't gamble "professionally" or use stats and trends to bet. I like to gamble on a whim. Or because I really want my team to win. If I bet on a "race" where I don't have a dog in the "fight", it's to make the event interesting.

I remember being a teen when, at a family gathering, us guys in front of the boob tube saw the channel change to a horse race, minutes before "they're off".

Someone calls out "I got 5 (bucks) on #7", or something to that effect.

Bets on the table as each one who wants to participate places their's. I join in just to join in on the fun. Five bucks for ten minutes of a fun rush. That's the extent of my gambling.

While writing this, I'm reminded of a news reports I saw on the boob tube when two mobsters were taken into custody and placed into the back of the squad car. One says to the other:

I bet that bead of rain drop makes it to the bottom before that other one.

It's just "gambling" for the fuck of it. To pass the time and have fun.

and waste of money. There are lots of homeless in Atlantic City, people who arrived, and didn't have money to return home. The stock market became a new gambler's medium last year, people sitting at home with stimulus money. The Robinhood crowd lost lots of money in a Bull market.

Still, I think Texas should allow Casinoes, simply because Louisiana and Oklahoma are raking in gobs of Texas gambling money. Might as well keep it in the Family.

Loved online poker. Made good money on the side at it. Someone needs to explain how online sports books are legal but online poker isn’t.

It's ten years old, but this is was what I found. I'm sure the laws have changed ten times over since the article came out.

Online Poker vs Online Sports Betting in 2011

https://www.mosesbet.com/online-poke...tting-in-2011/

Quote:
The main difference between sports betting and online poker is that in the former you’re betting money against the house with fixed odds, where as in poker you’re competing against other players which means the competition is always increasing.

Depending on which poker room you play at, the competition can differ massively. For example, Bodog is widely regarded as the fishiest poker room. Now that Bodog Poker has banned the use of live tracking software it has made the room even friendlier to fish. Overall however, while online poker is becoming increasingly more difficult, sports betting has largely remained the same.

Back then I was a bit hesitant about the idea of online gambling. But due to the continuous rise of crypto or BTC casinos, I have never enjoyed this side of entertainment ever before! You would be happy to know that crypto casinos have little to no transaction fees, low withdrawal fees and deposit costs. Another joy when playing in this type of casino is in its exclusive titles, where they can only be played under a certain virtual asset.

Not quite the same. His disposable income is 120 times the average salary for an attorney.

Both my brothers were dealers in Vegas for years. One worked at TI for quite a while.

Let me explain the casino business like this: If you flipped a quarter and every time in landed on heads, you'd give me a quarter. If it landed on tails, I'd give you 22 cents. Now throw in colorful lights and an occasional "free" drink. Are you still willing to play?

Peel back the layers, and it is depressing. Mostly older people, many retired, handicapped, smoking away as they engage one-armed bandits. Winstar is still without any booked concerts, the last venue within 200 miles to fail to return with a concert schedule.

Another downer that most people, I think, fail to understand. A Texan crosses the Red River, and hits a $8,000 jackpot. He keeps playing, and loses $10,000, for a net $2,000 deficit.

He will owe Oklahoma and Federal taxes on the payout. You might think that is impossible, but it is real.
