I'm not very concerned and I'm a literal clean freak. I won't even unpack until I've used wipes and Lysol on every counter, remote, switch, handle... My GF Shannah and I had to turn away a Gent with "a slight cough" and red nose the other day. I'll never understand hobbying while sick even if you're getting over something.

Despite all the hype the media is telling us, to me it just sounds like a bad more-contagious-than-normal flu virus. Fever, cough, shortness of breath, most dangerous to those with underlying health issues? Sooooo, the flu.

For some reason, the sickest motherfuckers in the city congregate at Walmart 24/7. I might be craving chips that day and as I peek down the chip aisle I see some old dude coughing up large amounts of airborne particles onto my favorite flavor of Ruffles. How dare you old dude! At that moment I make my decision to have chips another day. My rule...don't let temptation take you down that aisle! No one wants coronavirus flavored Ruffles!

The fatality rate as in the ratio of cases per death for this strain of Coronavirus is much higher than that of the regular run of the mill flu. 3% versus only a fraction of 1% for the flu.

That is what 'they' say. However, I read a decent article in which there was the argument that because it is mostly coronavirus infections that are especially severe that send those infected to the ER/hospitals or doctor's offices, that the fataliry rate may be the same as the flu, as not every coronavirus infection has a severe symptom profile.

i.e., not everyone who contracts it becomes ill enough to seek medical care, including confirmation of the virus.

Makes sense to me

You don’t start buying until the people who first said “fk it” start saying “oh shit”....then, and only then, start buying everything.

People should be prepared, not only for quarantine but also other disasters be they natural or man made, anyways. A month's worth of food, water, medicine, toiletries and even some cash doesn't take up much space in the garage.

But that's the same for the flu. I've never gone to the doctor or hospital for the flu. I went once for strep throat when it became really painful.

Last couple of years I've been trying to be more consistent going to the doctor when I don't feel good to get checked out.

Everytime I have gone since, they have told me I have some sort of a virus and there is nothing they can do other than suggest over the counter medication to help with the symptoms .

The big issue I can't get over is how easily people are poked and prodded by the media's coverage of it. People are supposed to be educated, and if not, educated themselves... Not rely on what mass media is telling them.

Be proactive and practice good, common hygiene. Limit your potential exposure and try to be in good health otherwise. If your sick, be conscientious of being around others, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and if possible stay away from those in known risk factor groups.
