Default Prepaid Credit Card required by provider

I’ve searched and had no luck finding info on this topic so I hope this hasn’t been discussed before.

I saw an ad for a girl that was seemed TGTBT, couldn’t find reviews, but figured I’d TOFTT. She claimed to not be a regular provider; just an amateur doing this for a low volume of men for a few weeks to make some needed money. Frankly, her ad spoke to me! So, I texted and she told me her hotel. A 3 star hotel that is not a brand commonly used or in the typical area for providers here. Flag #1 but I let it slide since she claimed to be an amateur.

She follows up with a text making sure I don’t pay the “donation” (she put quotes around donation) the old way. After I respond that cash is the only way I know, she sends me pics and a lot of explanation about buying prepaid credit cards and where to get them. She goes on to say that “Federal law requires all cards to be activated online...” blah blah blah. In a nutshell, she said bring the card to the hotel. She just needs to see the front and back to verify it before we start. After our session, she just needs to see the activation code on the receipt and she’ll activate it on the spot to make sure it’s good. She said anyone that doesn’t operate that way is scamming you. Flag #2.

After politely saying this made me uncomfortable and I’d prefer to not schedule an appointment, she kept texting explaining this was to make her comfortable because cops won’t go get a Prepaid card. They only use cash. She was persistently texting me, without me replying, for 15 minutes or so. Flag #3.

I finally told her this was too much like a business transaction, it wasn’t what I was looking for, and goodbye and be safe.

My conclusion by Flag #2 was this was a sting. So, just wondering a few things:

(1) Is there any truth to cops not using prepaid cards? Seems like BS to me. Frankly, it seemed more like evidence that a transaction was taking place.

(2) Are there any providers that would accept prepaid cards like this? How do you know it’s any good until after the session? Again, this doesn’t seem discrete and seems like demonstration of a transaction.

(3) This sounded way too much like a formal transaction versus the envelope left benignly on the dresser. Does this seem like it was a sting?

Anyone got any thoughts or similar experiences?

This is a scam. I had heard of it and experienced it once, but she did not get my money. In my case she wanted me to get a Green Dot card at the Walgreens that was just a block from her hotel. She asked for a number on the receipt to verify. This number has all the info they need to get the funds. Once I knew it was a scam I decided to mess with her. I spent 3 hours on a Saturday night being entertained and it did not cost me a penny. If they are going to mess with my time, I will mess with theirs. If I see the ad pop up again, I may plan for an enjoyable evening by the fire playing her games again.

Default Don't put the cart before the horse

The person who said he/she was a provider (I'll call the person "Officer Bustyou") didn't ask you to get a "credit card." Officer Bustyou asked you to get a debit card. You can buy a debit card with a prepaid amount, or with other debit cards you can reload them. You can buy debit cards all over the place. You don't have to produce ID to buy a debit card. By contrast, a credit card, by definition, involves an extension of credit and a promise to pay, so the applicant must reveal their identity.

With that being said, I don't understand your approach to hobbying. The ad "spoke to you"? Are you an idiot? Is your goal to be arrested or is it to bang pussy safely? Considering the ad you responded to, it may be that you want to be arrested. Maybe you should confer with a professional, such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, or holy person.

As for your questions: really, who the fuck cares? Some providers accept payment by debit cards, but you put the cart before the horse by replying to an ad that you admit appears TGTBT (probably because the pics in the ad were of a porn star), a "provider" with no reviews, and a "provider" who probably wasn't verified on Eccie.

Here's an example to make my point. Suppose Annie Analfuck, an Eccie-verified provider, states in her ad or elsewhere that she accepts payment by a debit card, or only by a debit card. She has 10 "yes" reviews. Some of the hobbyists who posted a review mentioned they paid by debit card. Annie sounds like a safe date to me.

Now back to you. The only thing in common with the foregoing hypothetical is the "provider" accepts payment only by debit card. That fact, in and of itself, is not a red flag, in my opinion. More important, to me, are all the other huge, bold, red flags waving in front of your silly-ass face that you ignored to pursue a dangerous encounter. Thank Jehovah you finally wised up and bailed.

Finally, there's the issue of creating evidence of prostitution with a debit card transaction. I can see why that's a downside to using a debit card to pay a provider (although cash can be evidence, too). But again, that should not be your first question regarding choosing a provider. There are other, far more important questions you should ask yourself first, such as:

1. Is the provider Eccie-verified?

2. Does she have a number of positive reviews, spread out over time, written by long-term Eccie hobbyists?

If the answer to both these questions is "yes," chances are good you'll be safe -- not guaranteed, but good.

How did the provider verify the verification code if you (I assume, it's unclear) made up the code?

btw, I don't agree that it's proper behavior to accept services without paying, even if the provider is a scammer.

ShysterJin:
I must say your way with words is outstanding. Still laughing my butt off.

I was a tad bit cavalier with my "spoke to me" comment and ad description as that wasn't the focus of my post. Fear not, I'm not quite as stupid as you inferred but I see how that came across.

Regardless, thanks for the service you bring to the board. I enjoy your insight and the wit you deliver it with.

Oh crap, sorry! But, you had me laughing my butt off again. What a coincidence you have a Chinese half-brother named Jin.

I never saw her or accepted any services. I just decided that if she was going to try to fuck with me, I was going to have some fun with her. I just played the game for a couple hours and never left my computer or hotel room. I am 99% sure she was not even in the same town as she said. This was not an ECCIE gal. Unfortunately I have to go to BP if I want anything. There are just not very many verified gals in some of the areas I travel.

I would never not pay for services rendered. I have paid for some crappy services though. I will never use those services again.

hermanhaspender: I think both Contralto and I were thrown off by your use of the word "entertained."

Indeed. And my apologies for seizing upon the wrong interpretation.

No problem at all fella's. I can see were you could take it that way after reading it again. I am a nice guy, but have a mischievous streak as well. Just decided enough was enough that night. There was nothing else on BP that night that was of interest to me and no VP's from Eccie or TER or Nightshift or Erotic Monkey. So I decided to just stay in with a few cocktails and mess with her.

She was pretty polished as every time I used a different number, the scheme was exactly the same. Hopefully I took enough of her time that she did not have the chance to scam anyone else that night.

Just to be clear, I would never do this to anyone legit.

This is also the best way to mess with phone solicitors. Keep them on the phone with you as long as you can. Theirs is a numbers game. They have to make a lot of calls to be successful. Tie up their time and you keep them from calling at least a few other poor souls. Most people just hang up right away. That's what they prefer, so they move on to the next mark.

To the OPs point... I don't see how insisting on using a prepaid card indicates a sting at all. I'm sure LE would take cash. Maybe it could be a scam, but it seems unlikely. I mean, what kind of self-respecting scammer won't take cash?

If they are not even in the same town or state. They have no intention of ever meeting face to face. Once they have the numbers they are done.
