I wasnt giving back or being nice. I just did what had to be done. Who is going to leave a toddler like that? Anyone ( excluding perverts & weirdos ) would have done the same thing.

lets not pass judgment so fast on the guy. we don't know what happened....bottom line he should have been grateful and apologetic. accidents happen all the time....and all it takes is a split second of being distracted and the lil ones with feet and legs can find their way into stuff.

Well my 7 y/o got separated from me in Wal Mart the other day, and one of the guys who helps with heavy purchases and works in the garden department found me walking around calling her name. She looked so scared. We live in Lake Jackson, but that in itself does't mean nothing could happen to her. I have been trying to give her a little independence...she looked so scared!!!! She told me she will make sure to keep better track of where mom is from now on...and of course I always try to keep track of her ... but in this case she lost me and started making wider circles before I did...of course this is the same kid who I tipped $ 10 for loading up all my Christmas packages for me, so he just smiled when I thanked him for finding her for me. We know everyone over there...

I don't see how he lost his kid in hotel like this unless it was an accident with a closing elevator door - my child has done the same - darting out the elevator door and I just barely caught the door to get her...whatever the case, I think losing your kid is semi-normal - being an asshole to the person who found your kid is not...

Yes, don't pass judgement too quickly. I have a sleep walking child and at home I never realized she did this because I assumed she'd moved from her bed to the sofa in middle of night. While on vacation I woke up in my room to see that the other bed (the girls bed) was vacant and the door wide open. She was 8 so had unlatched the chain ugh.

It was the worse feeling in the world when I walked into the hallway and didn't even know where to BEGIN to look... luckily a janitor found her and he (the janitor) didn't speak any english at all, put her in an empty room while he tried to figure out what to do. She must have just gotten out when I woke up because I met him at front desk and he was saying "chiquita?" and motioning with his hands how tall she was. And since I was crying he righfully assumed I was looking for her.

Needless to say I to this day BLOCK motel doors with furniture. I've even asked for stuff to block the door with in one motel where the furniture did not move.

I'm an excellent parent - MOPS mom, PTO member, kids do 4H, swimming, dance, violin, private language lessons, etc - the whole nine yards, so I'd hate to be judged by one sleep walking child. I'm grateful it had a happy ending - trust me, my mind has played through all the options many, many times (child molester, fell in pool and hit head, walked off into the night never to be seen again) so I am soooo grateful an angel found her and it was remedied quickly.

Any parent knows that toddlers need constant supervision and if their gone or too quiet for even a minute, you know you better look for them. What the hell was daddy doing? Didn't he miss his own kid? Who the hell allows a toddler to wonder around a hotel room?

This kind of stuff really gets to me, some people shouldn't have children...grrr...

Good for you for taking care of the little guy. Dad was probably being mean to you to take the attention off the fact that he is a bad dad.
