Well, I guess we know what kind of parent loses his toddler --- the kind who will give you shit for your compassion for his child. I guess that's one reason they're called Losers.

If I had been your appointment, I would hope that you'd call, explain what happenned and give me the opportunity to join you in your babysitting. Spending time with a lady when she's being her true self is very special and rare.

You have my affection!

It might have been that he actually WAS upset with himself, but he aimed it at you. Some people just don't handle bad situations well at all, and are incapable of taking responsibility for their actions or lack there of. Either way, it was horrible that he LOST his child and then coped with it the way he did. At least there are those of us who know it was a God send, for him and the baby, that it was YOU that found him. It will come back to you some day if it hasn't already, hon. Big hugs from a Mom who would have been devastated to lose a child and more than grateful to the person who returned them safely.

Stories like this always renew my faith in people. Thanks for sharing!!

Gentlemen-
There was always posts much like this one in the ladies powder room. There are so many wonderful ladies on this board, you just never really saw them for who they really are because they were hideing in the ladies room....

Although I do hope our private room comes back soon, it is very nice to show you a little bit of who these ladies really are.

I think your posts like these add a lot of humanity to the board in particular and the hobby in general. I hope you keep it up, even when the ladies room returns...

When I worked at hotel, we had a similar situation. 2 ladies found a little boy (3-6 yrs old) in the hallway crying so they brought him to the desk with us. When looking for his parents, we spotted his older sister (13-17 yrs old) running around crying frantically looking for him. From what she told us, she went to use the bathroom in her room and he wandered outside and locked himself out the room. From the time he locked himself to the time he was brought to the desk with us, it had too be a matter of minutes (too show you how quickly they can be snatched up). Other guests were urging us to call CPS, but we wanted to reunite him with his family because he seemed so distraught without them. He was fine when he saw he sister, but I don't think his sister was doing to well when their mom finally saw her.

Needless to say, glad you did what you did.

I had a similar situation happen to me at the Emba**y Sui**s.
I was checking out one morning and the elevator opened and 2 little boys (maybe 2yo & 4yo) were standing there, the youngest one was crying hysterically. There were other people waiting to get on the elevator as well but surprisingly noone moved to assist but me. Everyone else had the deer in headlights look.

I got on and picked the smallest one up and tried to console him. The elevator was already going up so I'd have to wait to go back down to the lobby. It was glass which allowed me to look out and I saw a lady waving and running around the balcony, I guess she was trying to get my attention. I assumed it was mommy and said 'look guys is that mommy?' The oldest said yes!

They calmed down a bit and when the doors opened 2 floors later, a guy (dad I guessed) just reached in and grabbed them. No thank you, no smile, not even a nod of appreciation.

I passed them in the lobby on my way out, the little boys looked at me and smiled, I smiled back at them, but the parents, still nothing.

Agree with Max. You made him look like a total retard and an unfit parent, so he lashed out. Amazing how compassion does that to the one who should have been so concerned lol.

As the first word of a tongue lashing left his lips, I would have been dialing CPS. At the point you started caring for the child you became liable for the child.

Yup I had the same thing working at a hotel. A little boy got in a little too deep in the pool and was going up and down. Not a big pool so all I had to do was reach out and grab him and pull him out. Parents came rushing out and were scolding him and not a word to me except a grandmother did thank me.
