In the end, I don't necessarily call it a "man crush" or even so much as admiration of Putin. Putin has shown through years of leadership that he's not to be trifled with.

Trump has so far shown that he's open to discussion with Putin, but as Tiny has mentioned, will not be put on the defensive and will impose sanctions/etc. as necessary.

Russia/Putin has dirt on everyone and it's a matter of negotiation. Regardless of the pandering, and all the BS of the Mueller investigation, I still haven't found anything as damning "collusion" wise as Obama's hot mic of, "I'll have more flexibility after the election".
