I guess what I'm not understanding is what you want done besides go back to a time when Trump wasn't President and China was kicking our ass. Are you for price controls, government COLA's? What is your main complaint and your solution to fix it?
Tariffs, a policy with which very few economists would agree is a correct policy, are hurting each and everyone of us. Maybe in the long term Trump's policies will be successful and we, as a country, will be better off after agreements are made. I don't trust China. Even if agreements are signed, I don't trust them to follow through. So I think we are in a lose-lose situation.

But I'll go back to my original post in this thread. Friendly Fred said we are ALL better off financially under Trump. I don't think I am. The surge in the stock market is meaningless to me. At least temporarily, the tariffs have increased my cost of living beyond my growth in income. Unfortunately since tariffs are a "hidden tax" which are difficult to see on a day-to-day basis, it is difficult to substantiate my opinion.

I will agree Fred should have said the "vast vast majority" of us are better off financially under Trump. There are outliers as you are pointing out.

However, I will go back to my post on the CPI in 2011 vs. the CPI today(equivalent points in Trump and Obama's terms) and under the same financial constraints you are discussing a CPI of over 3% would certainly be harder on you than the current 1.7-2% you are I guess blaming on the tariffs.

The tariffs have not moved the actual measures very much regardless of the hype otherwise. Historically a 1.7-2% CPI is on the low average side of things, putting Trump's economy in a winning position comparatively even for those not directly benefiting from it.

a bit off topic, not that this thread didn't fling "on-topic" away 2 pages ago..

Google Camila Cabello and Tumblr.. you think the younger generation is more open-minded, check it out, your mind may change, LOL
