He is not trying to spell "gripe". He means "grip".

He heard all of the reporters saying that Melania's Trump had "gripped" parts of Michelle Obama's speech. "To Grip" is a slang ghetto term for stealing.

You gotta be cool to know these things.

I'm not, because when I heard this term being used, I had to get into the Urban Dictionary to find out what they were talking about.

The OPINION of someone who does not live in either Austin or the Austin area vs. the opinions of those that do actually live in the area:

Nau’s Enfield Drug is home to Austin’s only original full-service drug store, soda fountain, and grill. Nau’s has been serving West Central Austin since 1951 and has become a beloved, historic landmark. No matter where you live in the Austin area, you can experience Austin’s friendly neighborhood drug store, located in the middle of Clarksville on the corner of 12th & West Lynn.

Clarksville is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Austin, and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976. Although Clarksville proper only comprises nine square blocks, people commonly refer to the area from Lamar to Mopac and Enfield to West 6th Street as the Clarksville neighborhood.

Clarksville today

Many European immigrants settled in Clarksville throughout the early 1900s, building a community still felt today. Anthony Colanetta settled in Clarksville and opened Anthony's Laundry & Cleaners at the corner of West 12th Street and West Lynn in 1950. Colanetta also built a drugstore that he leased to his friend Hylton Nau. Today both stores are still operating, and the soda fountain in Nau Enfield Drugstore is a rare find. Indeed, it was during the mid-1970s that Sledd's Nursery, with their high quality plants and organic philosophy, and Jeffrey's high class, eclectic cuisine open their doors, only to have remained Clarksville staples ever since. In 1979 Craig Weller and Mark Skiles opened Clarksville Natural Grocery, and a year later they joined forces with John Mackey to open the first Whole Foods, then called Clarksville Natural Grocery.

Coffee Shops and Restaurants:

Clarksville is full of cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants, especially along West Lynn. Jeffrey’s, at West Lynn and 12th Street, offers very innovative fine dining. It’s pricey but incredibly delicious. Cipollina, also at West Lynn and 12th, is a beloved Italian bistro where you can dine in or take out. There are many other popular places to dine and drink, such as Nau’s Drugstore, a genuine 1950s pharmacy that serves up traditional soda and milkshakes.

"Historic Austin charm"

There are many charming historic neighborhoods to be found in Austin, but Clarksville may take the prize as one of the most sought-after neighborhoods to live in by those who appreciate Austin’s unique qualities. This tiny neighborhood (only 9 square blocks) was originally founded by a freed slave in the late 1800s. Located within the larger Old West Austin neighborhood, Clarksville is a distinct separate area.

The boundaries for Old West Austin are Enfield Road to the north, Lady Bird Lake to the south, MoPac Expressway to the west and N. Lamar Boulevard to the east. The boundaries for Clarksville are Waterson Avenue on the north, W. 10th Street to the south, MoPac on the west and West Lynn to the east. Practically everything that matters in convenient to Old West Austin/Clarksville; it is next to downtown, across from Zilker Park along Lady Bird Lake, and convenient to the University of Texas. Homes are older but very well preserved, and retain their unique and historic charm. Urban living at its finest can be found here. Of course, all these qualities come at a steep price. For example, a small, 800-square foot bungalow (not uncommon in this neighborhood) can still fetch $300,000. The average housing price is over $500,000 (and up to $1 million for a large mansion). But there are also more affordable condominiums to be found, and the neighborhood also provides some affordable housing units for low-income families. Area schools include Matthews Elementary, O. Henry Middle School and Stephen F. Austin High School.

There is a varied mix of residents living in Clarksville/Old West Austin, including young professionals, families and students. Basically, all who are attracted to the eclectic, historic and artistic feel of the neighborhood. There are many local Austin businesses within walking distance in this neighborhood, including Jeffrey’s, one of Austin’s finest dining establishments as well as Nau’s Drugstore, which offers grilled hamburgers and milkshakes in a setting straight out of the 1950s, which is when it first opened. Whole Foods, located on the outskirts of the area, got its start in Clarksville in 1979 as the Clarksville Natural Grocery. There are neighborhood parks, such as West Austin Park, found here for those wanting the intimacy of a small, family-oriented park and pool. With so much to offer, it is no wonder that so many wish to settle in this neighborhood.

You live in neither! You don't live in Austin and you don't live in the area of Clarksville .... YouRong did not live in Austin when Clarksville was Clarksville .... I did. In fact I walked around in Clarksville when it was SEGREGATED and the people who lived there were not allowed to swim in West Enfield Pool on West Enfield Road ... and the folks in Clarksville could catch the bus down on West Lynn and transfer to a bus on Lake Austin Blvd to go down to 6th and Congress to transfer again!!! They sat in the back....fyi... I sat with them, cuz there was seats!!!

Not only were the NOT ALLOWED to sit at the Nau's ENFIELD Drug store soda fountain when the came in, but they were not allowed to sit at the soda fountain in Woolworths down at 6th & Congress.

Nau's Enfield Drug IS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF CLARKSVILLE ....

it is on West Lynn ..... Here's the OFFICIAL Austin City MAP!!!

http://www.austintexas.gov/sites/def...larksville.pdf

For you map reading challenged carpetbaggers .. the pink is Clarksville!!!!

West Lynn is CLEARLY NOT WITHIN CLARKSVILLE!!!!

Isn't it "odd" that a drug store is called NAU'S ENFIELD DRUG and not NAU'S CLARKSVILLE DRUG if it sat "in the middle of Clarksville" and isn't it even more incredible that a "drug store" located "in the middle of an Black community wouldn't allow Blacks to sit at the soda fountain. Now even more "unusual" is that the property owners and drug store owners don't claim "Historical Privileges" and take advantage of grants and tax breaks (of which the City of Austin is nationally known) if their property and business sat "in the middle of Clarksville" which is a designated historical location with the accompanying benefits. .....

.. carpetbaggers should put a sock in it.

Now why do all these people want to "be in Clarksville"?

It makes them feel like a part of the Black History and for $$$$$$!

They are not a part of "Black History" but they do get the $$$$$$$!

That's Austin for you!!!! All empty suits!!!

Beamers, beansprouts, and beanies!

Not only is it not in Clarksville, it is nothing to brag about. It looks like a relic from the 50's.

Fucking LLephantMan will continue fighting this no matter how many people call him on his bullshit.

Remember, he was walking the dangerous streets of the Clarksville ghetto before any of us were born!

It is! Unlike YouRong, who is a "relic from the 70's"!!!!!

These carpetbaggers that infested Austin are (and were) amazing ...

... they hit the Austin city limits (Speedo stopped short!) and a month later ..... they are "from Austin" and "Austinites"!!!!!!

Now there is a new standard: One can't know anything about Austin unless they live there .... "RIGHT NOW!" .... OH, YEA ..

... by osmosis if you reside within the scope of the prevailing breezes from the Southeast .... you can absorb "knowledge" about Austin from breathing the Gulf breeze rolling in .... !!!!

But carpetbaggers are like that ..... fucking "know-it-alls"!
