That's hogwash and propaganda itself. Puerto Vallarta is safer than the US these days! They have very safe gated communities, full of expats, in Northern Puerto Vallarta. Do more research if you don't believe me. It is true that some parts of Mexico, like the border towns, are unsafe. Not Puerto Vallarta, as far as the research I have done. I'll look into it further, but what I have found is very positive. I noticed it doesn't mention Puerto Vallarta as being one of the dangerous areas either. Most of the larger cities are not dangerous.
As far as Trump wanting to ditch Pence right before the convention, it was all over the news! Check the internet for yourself. It was on CNN. My posts are based on research and news reports. Article from The Hill:
