While I appreciate your service to the country, I never put my hand on my chest during the National Anthem whilst Obama was President. Now that Trump is President, I have occasionally resumed the custom, but there is no law respecting saluting the flag or putting my hand on my heart that binds me.

I happen to have a granddaughter who is a very good singer and is often requested to sing to open sporting events. I always put my hand over my heart then - but only so as not to draw negative attention.

I hate the country much less now that Trump is President, but anyone could tell you we still have too many [prohibited words] fucking the place up.

if what you are saying is true- shame on you. It shouldn't matter who is President, if you love this country and respect the men and women who served you should show respect.
Of course there's no law- it's a matter of respect- if someone is on a crowded train and a pregnant women or an elderly man or woman boards the train- a sign of respect is for someone to offer their seat to them- I assume during the last 8 years you showed no chivalry- as in holding the door open for a lady?
