Default Anyone here enjoy watching shark movies?

I watched 47 Meters Down: Uncaged at the movie theater yesterday. I do recommend it if you're into that kind of movie.

Although not a particularly realistic or meaningful movie, it's entertaining with lots of jump scares. I went in with low expectations, thinking it would be cheesy and not scary at all. I was pleasantly surprised and found myself enjoying the way the movie unfolded. I was scared off my seat several times! Those great white sharks are terrifying!

It's the kind of movie that you go and watch if you want to escape reality. A movie where you don't have to think too much. Just relax and enjoy the show.

Anyway, do you enjoy shark movies? Would you watch this movie that I mentioned? If you don't enjoy them, why not?

Did you watch the first one?

You didn't miss anything.

Their first mistake was going to Mexico on vacation.

Their second mistake was paying someone $100 to get in a dingy crappy cage to look at sharks.

A Marine biologist talks about the premise of 47 Meters Down: Uncaged and why it's not possible.

by the way, 47 meters is 154 feet.

LOL thanks CG for posting a link to that article with the marine biologist interview. Quite hilarious to read that biologist debunk the movie.

Yes I did watch the first 47 Meters Down movie in 2017. Both movies are silly and unrealistic but they can also be entertaining if you don't take them seriously. Just remind yourself before watching these movies that they're not scientifically sound and meant to be watched with a hefty pinch of salt.

It's like that Avengers: End Game movie that was released earlier this year. One of the silliest, most unrealistic, and childish movies of all times and yet it was a huge commercial success with millions of adults all over the world raving about it.

These shark movies are not educational movies. They're just pure unbridled entertainment.

Agreed. I have been scared enough and my behavior changed for a lifetime by the realistic ones like Open Water, The Shallows and of course the mackdaddy Jaws.
I don't need sharks digitalized and placed in a stairway, subway or highway.
Jaws is playing out in real life now in Cape Cod and all around the New England beaches.
Jesus Christ...here are their actual signs on the beaches.

I rather watch any Sharknado on TV any day than any of those reality shows that's all over Cable.

Even History and DIscovery which were always dependable for quality shows,

and for finding something to watch when there is nothing good on other channels

are flooded with reality trash!

Why we so fasinated by sharks? Every year Shark Week on Discovery and I don't miss an episode of it. Another animal we are all fasinated by are dinosaurs. Why is that?

I guess because they are the closest thing to monsters and just the sight of one produces an adrenalin rush. Dinosaurs are still around, Crocs, Gators and those evil Komodo Dragons.
I've been deep sea fishing a lot and inevitably we hook one. No great whites or tigers but I have seen some big hammerheads, blacktips and bull sharks.

What do you do with when you catch a shark? Keep them or throw them back?
