Perry's at Clearlake. They are known for steaks but seafood is decent and you can have calamari and clam chowder and chilian bass.. But if you have time go to Galveston and gaidos or fish tales...or the reef at Texas city and there is papas seafood at Clearlake. Great oysters and lobsters....And redfish blackened....

Stay away from the tourist trap that is Kemah boardwalk, it's all Landry's restaurants that taste bland.

In the Clear Lake area, try Opus Ocean Grille, pretty darn good.
http://www.opusoceangrille.com/
It's by the same folks as Opus Bistro, which is good as well.

Stay away from Tookies seafood in Seabrook, had high hopes for it since I love the hamburger place they own, but it's less than average.

If near downtown, I like Golden Seafood @ 2407 Airline Dr , especially the shrimp cocktail. Real value priced for the quality of food.

For the best oysters, gotta try Gilhooleys in San Leon.

(If you go, note that they don't allow kids.)

I try and stay away from the chain restaurants, but some may like the comfort in all the food tasting the same.

Yup, family friendly, clean, and probably the only one on this list that you can arrive by boat.

I will add, Monument Inn in Deer Park.
http://www.monumentinn.com/index.html

Probably middle of the road, or slightly better, food quality. However the all you can eat for $36 is awesome if you are hungry.

I won't claim it's "good" seafood but I really love fish and chips at Baker Street Pub

I have been to a Mambo's one time and never went back. Can somebody please tell me what is good about the place because I did not find it there. I have been eating seafood all my life including dining in Mexico which has some of the best shrimp and froglegs you will find. They understand what the word jumbo means.

Nostalgia: Clear Creek Inn at Kemah was the best place of them all in that area. I think it was Alicia that took them out for good.

I was very disappointed in TopWater Grill as so many people raved about it. I was much less than impressed as it seemed the popularity hurt the quality of the food and service.

Stingaree on the intracoastal at Crystal beach used to be great but I have not been back since Ike. Anybody know if it is as good as it once was?

I dont get mambos appeal either but Mexican folks love it. Worst gumbo ever. Its not gumbo, its something, but not gumbo.
