I use a texting app, that way I can delete it when I'm not looking. I can also change my number easily if someone annoying gets a hold of it.

Despite "not texting explicitly", even if you aren't explicit it's enough to deduce a barter for sex, which is illegal. No they cant use your texts to show up at your house and bust you. Upstate NY goes after the women, not the clients, unless it's an underage sting.

The app TEXTFREE works ok for me, not great for phone calls but fine for texting. If you don't want a second phone that's what I'd recommend.
