Val swiped the welcome mat, and is burning it to keep herself warm.

I would imagine the response she received would be typical if anyone posted in a different city, "Hey I heard you guys are awful, but am thinking of visiting. What do ya'll think?".

But remember this!

  • #1 - Avoid cases of unprovoked rudeness to others. No place for it here. Yes, with the dynamic nature of the threads and topics, tempers will flare and things will become heated from time to time. You may often encounter individuals who become passionate or emotional when expressing one's opinion or point of view. That's all understood and perfectly acceptable within reason…….but, start slamming or bashing another member and be met with consequences.
  • #3 - Disrespect to others, IN GENERAL, will be considered an item of low tolerance, especially when posting in our coed forums. Follow the Golden Rule and treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. This applies to fellow members as well as staff. We do not require that you have respect for us, but we do require that you treat us respectfully in the public forums. If you feel the need to vent, gripe, or blow off some steam regarding a staff member's action or decision, we ask that you keep it private. Email, RTM, or the PM system would be the appropriate avenue to take in such cases. In cases where you would like to request additional clarity about a staff decision, you are free to pursue an answer in either a public forum or private means of communication. If handled publicly, post your inquiry in a respectful manner.
  • #4 - Blatant insults or hostility toward another member will be met with staff intervention. This applies to using our coed forums for name calling, personal attacks, or vulgar slang terms to describe fellow members. If you have legitimate concerns about another member here, share them tactfully in the appropriate private forums or with staff.
I see your point about closing threads and I agree an explanation should be given. What we see most of the time is a general disrespect for another individual. That kind situation is what we want to avoid.

As long as we're respectful, are we allowed to call Father Wayward a "murdering rat bastard"?

It would depend largly on the context a statement such as that was used. That would be the deciding factor as to if its considered rude or an acceptable remark.

Man oh man, Father Wayward the murdering rat bastard is a thoughtful and considerate murdering rat bastard. I would not like to see him chopped into little edible pieces.

It seems to me if mods are going to enforce the owners wishes it might be a good idea to know what they are and not just the ones they choose to because its convenient for them.

Also in the case of Val, don't you think if you have a session set up with her you should recuse yourself from moderating threads with her in it it. I am just saying....then there would be no chance of someone accusing you of acting inappropriately.

Guys, I am impressed. Seriously.

I thought it would be a cold day in hell when members could openly, directly question hobby board mods about their actions, and have the mods actually make changes when their actions didn't line up with policy.

And I am also impressed with the decision to enforce a reasonable degree of civility. I, for one, have grown tired of the lynch mob mentality that seems to have infected a handful of the guys on the board.

It seems that these internet cowboys forget why most of us are here. Maybe this will remind them. Maybe.

+1

Bullies are always the last ones to recognise their own behaviour. They excuse it as 'showing leadership', or 'speaking their mind' or 'being open and honest' or 'testing potential new converts' or 'educating the ignorant' or some other feeble excuse. And when the victim turns around and tells them to fuck off, they say 'see, he/she isn't worthy of being part of my clique, I was right all along'.

It is simply an exercise in self justification and becomes very boring.

I'm seeing a bit of irony here.

(For those who have a life, thousands of words that are often typed (here and on other boards) every time a provider posts something deemed controversial by one of the lynch mob. Everything is discussed and analyzed to death, and all sorts of amazing conspiracy theories are posted. It's really remarkable; it's like junior high all over again, but with grown men.)

Lynch mob, Huh?
Et too, Brute? ( I seem to remember that from high school )

Care to identify the lynch mob members since no one else will?
