Default Is it rude to do this????

So I am still fairly new to the hobby and still trying to earn my bones, but not at the cost of my health ( no pun here).. So I am asking hobbiest and providers alike. We all like to play and at times somewhat expose ourselves which I like and so do many others...is it rude to ask for proof from a provider for up to date medical? I am up to date but also don't take bb chances , but I would not have an issue with that. But I also don't want the provider to think by asking that I think she is not good. I can't find any old threads on this topic, but wonder if we were able to come up with a ( med verification ) standard would that just make the hobby on both ends more enjoyable.. Again not trying to offend anyone and I know it's illegal to ask as a form of employment, but who are we kidding here.. I think the hobby does not fall under these guidelines. My last pm I reviewed kinda really made me think of safety. So let's hear it and don't bash me for bringing this up, I for one am willing to fork over the 42 extra bucks on that new instant test to as least feel better about not getting THE BIG ONE...

I don't think it is rude. It is a fair question. I'm not sure what kind of responses you are going to get.

I don't put much value on the validity of medical tests. It is comforting to know that at one point they are valid, but you never know. That's just my opinion.

I think he means it would get harder for you. Something else to check. Also, security would be involved. How do you know that health certificate matches the provider? Do you check names against her drivers license? Then you know her name and address...if you show her your certificate, same checks and she knows your name and address.

Much more is involved than just a note from the Dr.

I don't know if its rude but its not common practice. Probably for some of the reasons others have brought up.

Ya good points... I know it sucks , but what about that new test h$v that Walgreens has? I did one the other day just to see how it works and it pretty good. U think a provider would get pissed if I asked her to take one as well as myself? Not if it's all cfs but if ur going to play what's another 50 bucks for saftey

Well this is in Coed, so I am sure you will have some answers soon.
And I think it is excellent practice to get tested regularly yourself (for whatever you think you need testing for).

Now let me throw this out:
As a provider, most have no health insurance, if somebody would offer you a free test before a meeting, would you take it? Not for the sake to meet the guy, but for your own knowledge?

Let me go one step further: How many providers get regularly tested?

If we know what we all want to get tested for we could poll:
- Never been tested
- tested once, more than 1 year ago
- tested once a year
- tested more than once a year

But then we muddy the waters with male/female hobbyist.
And what guarantee do you have that the guy before you didn't just transmit it (possibly from an SO who just had a wonderful time as well). So may be NOT a poll.

While I would hope and wish that everybody gets tested regularly,
THIS IS A RISK YOU NEED TO BE WILLING TO TAKE or don't partake :-)

I will minimize my risk as much as possible. imho if a provider dies get offended .i.would think that is a sign to move on. I feel that if anything itshould be discussed. so providers may not even want to know

I will bite.... I just went recently to the RBJ health clinic and do every 3 months. Its only $20 for everything and I mean everything! It's completely confidential. They give you a # and a little card with your results and a # to call by a certain date for results. Having said that, I don't think it's rude to ask a provider as long you explain you aren't singling her out, but you may not get very far. Now, it would be a huge mood killer to ask when you begin your date. I'd like to be a fly on the wall for that date lol!

The problem is, if all you have is a # how do you know it's real? The results that aren't confidential have the provider's real world info. She may not want you to see her real info. Even then, how do you know if that is really her? So, that's definately a catch 22.

Lets say you have 3 partners, your test is negative. You would still need to re- test in a few months to make 100% sure. The problem is, there are going to be more partners in between testing times for most providers in the hobby. So, one can never really be 100% safe despite all efforts. BUZZ KILL but true.

The lady at the testing place told me she has only had to give 3 females positive results (2 were IV users according to her). The rest she said were gay men and transsexuals. Then again, who knows what percentage of women sex workers go there to be tested.

They don't call it risky business for nothing! Now that everyone is limp.... have a wonderful night lol!
