How would a denial prove anything? The fact that she said "prove it" is an implied denial. Unwarranted speculation or unfounded accusations are what cause people to leave this site. So, "prove it" is an appropriate response to this kind of accusation.

First however it was not speculation he stated she asked to borrow money from him, second were you there, if not then you don't know if its unfounded or not. As for prove it being an implied denial, it could be, but it could also be a challenge.
