Social Security checks will still go out. But some gov employees won't work/get paid until this is resolved. It's all bullshit, those republicans still can't handle the fact that Obama is an elected president and they will cut off their nose to spite their face. I'm embarrassed.

Situation normal all fucked up. I don't have any illusions that I will ever see a dime of all the money I've paid into social security. People are just living longer than projected. Granny should be very worried about losing her checks. If the Republicans had it their way -if Granny was broke she may as well starve.

I was watching CSpan last night listening to those Tea Baggers and I about threw up in my mouth. These bastards actually believe that it is good for America when we allow health insurance companies to DENY coverage to mostly poor women and children because they get sick, and need medical treatment. The problem is we all get sick, need medical treatment and will die. It's part of the human condition.

So the people that shut down our government are the same people that think it's ok to deny coverage to a ten year old cancer patient because it's not profitable. Ohhh but here is the rub....their days are numbered and they damn well know it. America is starting to see through the bullshit. This shut down will be catastrophic to the future of the republicans.

The financial problems in the US are so huge we may never find our way out of it. Look at what happened in Greece when "God forbid" they all of a sudden had to live within their means. Ever wonder what would happen if one day China decides we're not going to loan you a trillion dollars a year anymore?

From personal experience I know the military will get their checks. I lived through a couple of government "reductions" and they got paid. Maybe you missed the dog and pony show last night were the House voted on a bill that continued to pay the military, the Senate balked at voting on it but then decided that they better, and Obama signed the bill that guarantees military pay checks. STOP the panic people! Quit acting like idiots. This is the 17th reduction since the Ford adminstration and the country is still here. Obama and Reid have said that they will not speak with the GOP, that they will not negotiate (unless they are terrorists), and they will not vote to fund the government (which was in every bill voted out of the House). This is on Obama and Harry Reid. Now Obama decides who gets paid and only Obama.

Also, Social Security is locked in so calm down, your grandmother is safe.

Wasn't it Kathleen Sebilius who denied a transplant to a ten year old girl because of paperwork? Public pressure forced Sebilius to do the right thing. Wasn't she a democrat and she works for Obama.

No she didn't I exposed your error on this on another board. She wanted a review of the policy denying adult lungs to anyone under 12. She has a MS but it is not in the medical field.

*** I'm a lot of things but misinformed is not one of them. The crux of Obamacare and what Republicans are so up in arms about is that health insurance companies are no longer able to deny coverage to people that have pre existing medical conditions. Yes this affects the bottom line of health insurance companies and yes they hired lobbyists to stop it. The GOP fought this law and lost, they argued it was unconstitutional and lost, now they shut down our government but will eventually lose that too. So YES the GOP does seek to DENY health insurance to people. ***
