The phrase "sitting around looking pretty" was not used in reference to anyone posting on this thread, be it Claire, DG, or Scarlett. It was directed at the subject of the review, who has yet to speak for herself. It's well known that all of you ladies provide a great service, one that is valued highly by all who meet you. Apologies to anyone posting here that took offense to that statement. There is actually a dog with a tube in her leg, draining her wound sustained in a fight.
The appointment referenced in the review happened on a different day, Claire. Contact was made by her, after a previous appointment fell through. There was no intention to contact her again after the first issue, but it was decided that perhaps, being new, that timeliness and TCB skills were possibly at a lower point on the learning curve. She seemed really interested in booking, so a decision was made to give her another shot. She blew it- figuratively speaking.
In no way was there an intention to insult a provider for charging what they charge. You have a right to request whatever fee you feel adequate for your delightful company. The point was that some folks - those of a certain means- are excluded by a fee that exceeds their income by a significant margin.
Claire, feel free to send a PM, if you'd like a rundown on the specific details of the dog's injury, a photo of the vet bill, a photo of her injury, a protracted personal apology, a philosophical discussion on karma, or the details of the date scheduling with Lexi.

To be clear, Claire, there was no date scheduled with you. You responded to an ISO request, and were provided with screening info. Several others who responded were also provided with screening info. At no time was an agreement made to meet you at a specific time or place. You made a suggestion as to when a meeting might occur, and were declined, with the reason given that finances were in a pinch due to bills for vet care. That's the honest truth, and was the driving factor in choosing a less expensive option. No date occurred on the day specified in the ISO request. You were not "brushed off" for someone else. I really don't see what karma has to do with any of that.

There was no date with Claire, there was no cancellation. There was no lie. She responded to an ISO request, she was provided screening info, she proposed a time, she was declined due to financial constraints stemming from an actual vet bill. At no time was a date arranged or agreed upon.

In what way does being honest upfront about one's financial situation invite bad karma? No attempt was made to negotiate a lower rate, no appointment was made or cancelled with Claire. Cognizant of her rate, her offer of a date was declined.

Why would you show a provider a bill with your personal info on it? Don't be foolish bro.

Well, obviously I would redact any personal info. That comment was made with tongue in cheek, ATX.

ATX, the point in making the statement about discussing those subjects via PM is that those issues have nothing to do with the subject of the post. It's a given that no personal info would be exchanged.

And the whole $18/hr saving lives - you're not the only firefighter on here, sweetheart. I know what y'all make in a single day of overtime - as much as I make just sitting around looking pretty.

All fire departments don't operate similarly, Claire. In certain departments, people compete for shifts. Firefighters are seldom paid overtime here. The comment about "sitting around looking pretty" wasn't in reference to you. It was in reference to Lexi, who seems to believe that's sufficient. We all know you provide a quality service. Whether or not you work overtime isn't information that's generally known.

My point was, that a guy who makes a dollar risking his @$$ values a dollar differently from someone who earns it sitting at a desk in a suit. IJS.

You don't know a thing about what I make, other than what I've told you. I've collected maybe 6 hours of overtime in my entire career. It seems like you feel a great deal of disrespect, for many people. My post wasn't a commentary on your right to set your own rates. It was a statement about my personal economic situation. To be honest, your attitude is a far greater turn-off than your rate.

And to reiterate, no date was ever scheduled between us, Claire. You are in error. You weren't cancelled, your proposal for a date was declined.

The purpose of this post was to provide a forum for discussion on the subject of hobbyist's expectations from providers. While it's understood that this is a co-ed forum, and this post is thus subject to posts from providers regarding their own expectations, it's hard to understand why a provider would expect that everyone who screens with them would be a guaranteed client. An ISO gets posted, numerous responses result from said posting. Is the OP required by some law of the hobby to book an appointment with all who respond?

Im just curious why would you send screening information to someone if your not going to book with them... seems a little weird. I would be pissed if someone sent me screening information and didnt book... just like you dont want your time wasted I sure dont either. Just my .02 cents.

The reason? It's taken as long as two weeks for screening to be completed, from my experience. It's easier to pre-screen than to expect that screening would occur in a convenient timeframe. It's not uncommon for hobbyists to pre-screen with a provider or agency. That's the whole concept behind a p411 OK.
