Looks like a lot of people want to get away from cold, damp weather and overpriced housing.
Just wondering, when those modern aged snowbirds, carpetbaggers, or whatever you call them arrive in the warmer climes, will they be absorbed or will they take over?
Interesting to ponder. Ask Arizona and New Mexico and Colorado about the unintended consequences ofmass migration of people who sold their houses for huge sums.

Mass migration of US citizens from northern states isn't what is changing the political climate in states like Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico....it is massive illegal immigration over the last 20 years from south of the border.
Why else would Obama and Democrats want to flood us with the least skilled, the un educated, the welfare dependent ?

Not only the electoral college but now that their reliable power center states (NE) are losing population, Democrats are increasing opposed to the proportionality of the House of Representatives makeup based on population. As well as redistricting.

According to the article, the migration cannot be explained by weather and/or resources.
The northeast is just strangling the middle class and job growth.
Of course, the downside is that the migrating north easterners probably haven't learned their lesson. They will turn red states purple by advocating many of the same policies that fucked up NY, CT, and Mass.
There will be dribs and drabs of demands over a long period of time for new services provided by the government. The bureaucracy will increase and public employee unions will swell and the formerly red states will wind up in the same mess.
That is just one possible scenario. I hope it doesn't happen.
