What's your point? Do nothing? Do half measures?

If the US shuts down travel from Africa, so will europe and other countries. If not, Ebola will spread I guess.

But you want to risk the spread of Ebola in the US because 2 greeks hook up with someone from Liberia in Prague?

Fuck that kind of thinking.
You're still misunderstanding.
All I'm saying is there is no way to be sure you are preventing this from getting into the US without shutting everything down. Period.
Am I advocating that? No, It's not practical. Therefore, what I will advocate is learning as much as you can about the virus, it's symptoms, transmission, etc. take precautions that make sense for you and your family. Be prepared and don't panic until you see me running...

Sir.

Speed limit signs, traffic units, and radar traps ... don't stop ALL speeders.

So, is your "solution" to not have signs, units, and radar ... and make sure everyone has the training and skill to avoid being run down by low flying Mario Andretti want-a-bes?

The "domino effect" of prohibiting those travelers to enter this country may well stop others from coming and encourage other countries to start "screening" flights leaving the African countries headed to their country, because they don't want sick ones (or potentially sick ones) hanging around their airports.

IC your point. I don't agree with it. But why not funnel all African flights (from ebola zones) into a single airport location?

IMO: Liberal elites don't want to offend our lesser African neighbors. Unless you have another reason?

Ebola should be scared of most posters in this forum what with all the diarrhea of the mouth I've seen spewing over the years!

What I'm saying is be smart. As this thing grows out of control so will the misinformation which can be more deadly than the virus itself if panic starts to set in and reason goes out the window.

There are a lot of countries that don't have near the manpower or resources that we do. Who is going to make sure they are doing the right thing every time? Us? Hell, we can't make sure that a nurse follows protocol.

Funneling flights only from Ebola zones helps to minimize the risk but doesn't eliminate it.
The only sure way to defeat something like this is quarantine. It may be too late for that here. We don't know.

Not sure what you mean by another reason. My interest in this is that I'd just kinda like to stay alive.

Minimize the risk and focus maximum resources on the fewer who slip by.

I'm not advocating "either or" ...

I am advocating utilizing all opportunities to reduce exposure risks.

Are you done splitting hairs?
I understand you are backpedaling. Asymptomatic doesn't mean healed, you know you should just say you made a mistake.

Think about it.
21 day incubation. Dude travels from Liberia to Greece stays a couple days before flying to Paris then London to take care of some business then travels on to the US. He hands the customs agent his passport. Bam. SHTF.
CDC is not ruling out the possibility that this could be transmitted airborne. They can just confirm that there is not a case where that is the only possible way it could have been transmitted.
NOT true.

You are trying to use the fact that we cannot obtain absolute protection as an excuse not to do anything.

Here is a counter-example. Take two Liberians.

The first Liberian is infected with Ebola. He wants to come to the US, but cannot. We don't have to worry about him infecting Americans in the US.

The second Liberian travels to Greece and infects a Greek. The infected Greek then travels to the US. This Greek can infect an American.

However, even though we don't have perfect protection, we have reduced by 50% the danger the two Liberians pose to us.

Stop making the perfect be the enemy of the good.

When you are talking about an ebola patient "becoming asymptomatic" they are either healed or dead.
