50% beforehand PayPal
You guessed it right. A provider recently asked for upfront flowers of my garden (PayPal). I declined. Now I am noob. Is it a standard practice? If you want to know the provider PM me. I am not sure if I should disclose her publicly.

Not uncommon if you're asking them to travel in specifically to come see you or have some wacky requests. Otherwise, she's just seeing how gullible you are.
Go ahead and disclose it publicly, I say. As long as you don't copy/paste your personal communication with her, no rules are being broken. We'll also get a hearty laugh out of it if she tells us it was because you wanted her to peg you while calling you a sissy and wearing your mom's old clothes.

I wouldn't ever do this with a provider I didn't already have a relationship with.

Oh hell NO!!!! Wouldn't do that using somebody else's account. Too many ncns's and such. You getting fucked over won't mean anything to her or anybody else. If her trip requires a plane flight, a non-refundable ticket may be in order. Anything more would fall under her risk of doing business because that is all it is..... business.

If paypal becomes aware of it, they will close your account and keep all of the money in the account.
But, don't do it, for the above reasons.

No, absolutely you should not disclose her name in this public forum, for simply having a business policy you do not agree with.
Every provider has the right to run her business as she sees fit; every hobbyist has the right to agree to or decline a session with a provider, based on those business practices.
It sounds like you handled it the best way possible; you weren't comfortable, so you didn't do it. No harm, no foul.
There are many providers here in Houston who do not require a deposit; I am sure you will be able to find plenty you like that also fit your hobbying style.

Is asking for half up front by a provider some sort of secret?
If you are posting her handle or trade name what difference does it make except to those that would not want to waste her time attempting to engage in her services when unwilling to pay half up front. Save some johns the time and effort. Also save her some time by not having to deal with those that would decline once they learned of her policy.
You eat at Luby's you pay as you leave the serving line before you eat. But, at least you got the food on the tray and may have some chance at recourse if it turns out to taste like crap.
I see no harm in revealing the handle of the provider that has certain business practices. This site is for the exchange of information.. This is not like outing. No different than knowing if she is CBJ or BBBJ. That is also a business practice.

Good points, both.
I take deposits up front when booking my Texas Renaissance Festival Wicked Wench Tours, but that's a unique and lengthy package, and for overnights with gentlemen I haven't seen previously, an unusual request for an initial meeting. I also ask for travel money in advance when making arrangements for long-distance trips. If I hadn't done so in the past, a few times I would have been stiffed for expenses and/or large segments of time I could have profited from otherwise.
The car mechanic comparison Oralist made is fair, but not like a provider can put a "lien" on someone's wallet if he pulls a NCNS on her and costs her wasted time, gas, and a hotel room. The OP is a relative newbie, recently joined with only 1 review to vouch for his past behavior and looking for newb-friendly ladies in ISO, so some providers might feel the need to ask for a "good faith gesture" to prove he's serious, as they are taking on more risk seeing him. Each to her own requirements, but yes, he definitely needs to be cautious and aware of scammers. This is exactly what the Escort/Client Community Information Exchange excels at, imparting excellent education!
OP, is the provider in question a reputable lady who has been on ECCIE for a substantial period with numerous posts and a positive history, or someone also new to the Hobby and/or with questionable reviews? Was this for a normal, hour-long playdate, or a multi-hour dinner engagement?
We need more info before flaming anyone.
Simplest thing to do is just move on, dear, to someone who has business practices more amenable to you.

Right! What's the point in being messy if she didn't actually cause you harm. Like others have said, there are quite a few reasons why she may require a deposit. And the OP provided very little context. Was she travelling from far away, or was this for a longer session. (I've also seen some companions require a deposit to host and book an incall space, and some who require a deposit for any and all dates and that's their business to do so if it's working for them.) If that's her policy and it doesn't sit well with you, then move on.
