If Trump says there are no recordings/tapes, that is the END of it - UNLESS someone comes forth with some kind of proof that he does have tapes.

It's impossible to prove a negative, so courts will never require Trump to prove he doesn't have recordings.

Any comment he tweeted saying that Comey "better hope" he doesn't have tapes does not constitute proof - or even an admission - that he in fact had tapes. He only implied that he might have them - so Comey had better be careful.

So Trump has now said that there are no recordings of his meeting with Comey.

So now what do people think will happen?

Nothing will happen. There is a GOP controlled House and Senate. Folks are dreaming if they think Trump will be impeached.

Republicans love that Trump is under investigation. ...it means he can not cozy up to the Dems and make any deals.

Impeachment isn't any issue with the tapes.

If he had tapes and lied about it, that is obstruction of justice and the special prosecutor can charge him. And the GOP House and Senate cannot do anything about that.
