3 per cent of Americans own half of the country's guns

			http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ry-s-guns.html
But astonishingly just three per cent of Americans, or 7.7million people, are thought to own half of the nation's firearms. numbers look too low. ran the numbers, it comes to 9 million. don't know where they got the 7 million from.

the number of guns in this country, 310 million? is that right? that's kinda high. I thought it was 100 million firearms

A "poll" on who owns how many guns? What's the "margin of error"?
I wonder if they "polled" Paddock? And, more importantly,

..... if "they" did .... what was his response? (Just speculation, of course!)

I hope this doesn't turn into one of those threads in which posters start bragging about their respective "arsenals" with specifics on weapon descriptions right out of a "Guns and Ammo"!

DF ... the international firearm business is interesting to say the least, primarily because of definitions from the past and varying laws among the different countries with regard to entry and "inspections"!

If you are familiar with San Blas, Mexico, in the 60's-70's that was the offloading area for the Chinese to bring automatic weapons into the mountains of Western Mexico, primarily because it was "out of the way," but also because the river there was a good way to get back into the folks who wanted them ... but Mexico had, and still does, aggressive and restrictive "gun laws" with some police (primarily traffic cops) not carrying them at all.

Most people today are aware of the weapons available to "cartels" and their members. The Liberal-AntiGun crowd want to ignore the Mexican Experience with "gun control" ... the good guys don't, the bad guys do.....

... and the Liberal-AntiGun crowd don't want a "wall" either!!!!!!

... the "point" ... talking "polls" on "gun ownershp/possession" is like trying to guess how many grams of brain there are between WTF's ears!

Why would I, or any intelligent firearm owner, tell a pollster how many firearms I own.
I will compare it to the surveys of drug use among high school students in anonymous surveys, they get a big kick out of making shit up.

We all know how the polls turned out for Hillary.

It's over 300. IIRC, about 100 million were added under Obama. That surge put us over the 1:1

Maybe that's what you are thinking.

Also, i heard last week there were about 60 (or 80) million semi auto. Either 60 or 80 that seems low to me. just think of the small percent of semi auto before Obama. Then imagine that most of the guns Obama promoted were likely semi auto.

That article says your spot on. Wiki says 102 for each 100 persons so more than a gun for every American at least.

The geographic disbursement is funny as hell too!

Since they relied on self reporting from those at one college, i hardly think this is in anyway correct..

I don't believe 3% of the civilian population owns 50% of the guns. I know of very few people who don't own at least 3 firearms, most own 10 or more. There really is no way of knowing, many will lie about this to a pollster. Here are the back ground check numbers though. https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/...state.pdf/view
"In 2015, the total NICS checks for the year were 23,141,970 . In 2016, they were 27,538,673. That is 4,396,703 more than the total for 2015. 2016 ended 19% ahead of the previous record set in 2015."
That's over 50 million background checks in 2015 and 2016 alone.

Obama sold a shit pot load of guns and smashed all previous records. "Exactly one year ago, seven years into President Obama’s tenure, CNN called him “the best gun salesman in America.” It’s true: handgun sales grew by 287 percent annually from 2006 to 2013, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), while rifle and shotgun sales rose 166 percent." https://www.outsideonline.com/215031...rvation-legacy

I think the number is higher than 300 million guns in America.
"Total US Firearms: Not 300 Million, but 412-660 Million?" http://weaponsman.com/?p=33875 |
