Some states let you vote in either party’s primary. I don’t think any state let’s you vote in both party primaries.

So explain this to me. Using LaHood as an example.
The people went to the Primary to vote either straight Dem or Rep.
Than they tally up the votes in the DA department.
*I* guess that whoever got the majority of the votes in each party wins their party vote and than the one with the most votes in Rep or Dem wins the office. Correct? Because that is how it appears.

I don't follow a party affiliation so I won't do a straight vote.

The General Election is May 5. So Joe Gonzales who beat LaHood and is now the Democratic candidate and will face Tylden Schaeffer the Republican candidate in the General Election (assuming there are no other third party candidates). The winner will be the new DA.

The general election is always the first Tuesday in November. For this year it will be November 6.

For the primaries, a candidate can win the office outright if he/she gets the majority of the votes (over 50%). If that does not happen then the top two face each other in a run off election held on May 28.

Damn I started drinking to early. Mokoa is correct the DAs office will be in November during the National General Election. I was thinking about the Municipal General election which is held the first Saturday in odd years in May (Mayor and City Council).

Noting the above, California state and federal offices go through a "unitary" primary election in which all candidates in a given race regardless of party affiliation are on a single primary ballot. The top two vote getters advance to the general election.

Meaning that in a general election, the two candidates might well (and have been) be from the same party. Funky system, but rather unique to California and I will refrain from expressing any opinion thereto.

June 5, 2018 is the primary date.

So, unlike Texas and pert near most other states, the parties don't run the balloting.

Not sure about "party questions" such as the GOP ballots had in the Texas primary this week.

I finally saw the commercial before the election, it was not for congress. It was for District Attorney and it was Joe Gonzales who had the anti-prostitution ad. Not Lahood. Regardless I will be calling or emailing the office to give his staff or him a piece of my mind about his shitty ad and shitty stance on the subject.

I am curious.... Because I am not familiar with the national laws. Is prostitution illegal via states rights or via federal law?

States' rights. Which allow it to be legal in (most of) Nevada.

So that means that states in general just don't want it even though some people do want it. I don't see the harm in allowing prostitution to exist provided street walking is not allowed. Online escorts and such, private escorts without agents should be allowed. But good luck getting states to agree to that. And in Nevada it is only allowed in one area way outside the city of Las Vegas, although it is rampant in the city and seems the police don't care. I have not read anything about johns or providers being arrested, but then again I haven't searched for that info either.
