the ones who did want to go back did not have the funds to do so.

there was a last batch of slaves who were taken to alabama. after slavery was banned, they asked the captain who took them to usa to return them home. He refused. so, they got fucked and got stuck. they never had a choice on going home.

I agree. Give every American who can trace their Ancestory back to a former Slave a check, how much to be determined by Law.

Whether they have been hampered in life because of this could also be determined by Law. Kind of difficult to say whether notables such as Colin Powell, Morgan Freeman, Condelesa Rice, Michael Jordon, Tiger Woods, Jessie Jackson.etc were hampered.

Never heard of the Emancipation Proclamation!
Any African American living who was held in LEGAL slavery in the US could be considered for reparations. Just as wrongfully convicted felons can be compensated by State fund.
