When polls support one's POV they are great. When polls do not support one's POV they "don't mean shit".

Based on a statement by eccielover I went back and looked at polls done just prior to the 2016 election. Trump led in Michigan. He was within the margin of error in Pennsylvania. Only in Wisconsin was the polling incorrect, slightly outside the margin of error. I thought all 3 states would vote for Clinton. My mistake, but my belief was obviously NOT based on polls.

Pollsters do NOT support candidates. I'm sure many Trump supporters feel that way when Trump's approval rate and lack of support in other polls is horrible.

I doubt you will take the time to read the following article but it will explain that the polling results in 2016 were not that far off from the average of such polls.

(On average since 1972, polls in the final 21 days of presidential elections have missed the actual margins in those races by 4.6 percentage points, those are not good odds if you are gambling ( just saying)
