The Conjuring was really good, I thought.

The Conjuring 2 was good but not as much as the first one.

From a while back, I thought The Exorcism of Emily Rose was really good.

Devils rejects is a good one. Which reminds of the time I actually met Rob Zombie in a convenience store in Joplin Missouri about 2am one morning. He was joking around with some folks. Cool guy.

I haven’t seen the remake for Suspiria but if I come across it, I’ll give it a go. Veronica is a supernatural horror from Madrid, Spain. It’s on Netflix and If you don’t mind subtitles, you’ll enjoy it. Watch it at night too!

I too enjoy foreign horror films. Train to Busan was the shit! Real tear jerker for sure. Check out Martin Freeman’s film, Cargo, on Netflix. It’s an Australian post apocalyptic horror/thriller.

I’m gonna watch Black Summer later today.

Devil’s Rejects is my favourite Rob Zombie film. It was well done and I can’t wait for the sequel!

I don't know how Veronica got past me. Saw the trailer and it looks great. I'm going to try to catch it today.

I think a Smurf porno would be classified as a horror movie!

Freddy, Jason, and the evil dead are all connect in the movie Jason goes to hell. The book of the dead and the dagger that is used to kill Jason is from the evil dead and of course Freddy's glove pulling Jason's mask into hell. Newline was looking to make a movie Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. In that movie Ash would have beat Freddy and jason. The said no to that idea. They did make a 2 part comic book series. They are a really good read.

IMO, there is a difference between true “horror” ( is. Exorcist, The Shining, Pet Cemetery), and slasher bloodfests (Devils Rejects , any Freddie, Jason, Michael Myers sequels). The first group really mess with your head and have you leaving the lights on for a while. The latter are just for the gore satisfaction we need sometimes.

The original Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare in Elm Street fall into the former because they were brand new, and nobody had seen anything like it before. Once they got into the third of fourth iterations, you knew what was coming, so the psychological effect was gone.

Salem’s Lot ( the 1979) is another that falls into the category of horror. I enjoyed 30 Days of Night, I’m just not sure if it wasn’t just a gore-fest

I really enjoyed it - great atmosphere and tension-building, plus the subversion of the familiar superhero origin story.

My other favorite horror movies of the last few years have been Get Out, Us, IT, and Pet Sematary.
