they aren't. the OP is trying to make this about Trump. it's not. the real story below..

the trainer, owner and vet knowingly used betamethasone a legal and regulated treatment for inflammation. commonly used in training and legal. with a catch. you can't treat the horse with various regulated drugs too close to a race. for several reasons, the big two are unfair advantage and the other is part of the dark side of the sport, to run a horse that would otherwise be unable to run.

Derby winner Medina Spirit tests positive for regulated drug, trainer Bob Baffert says he'll fight it

Betamethasone is a Class C anti-inflammatory, and while it's not banned, it's regulated: a horse must be off the drug within 14 days of racing. Medina Spirit tested for more than twice the allowed amount.

they miscalculated the time it would take to drop below the accepted limit.

a horse can live 40 years. 30 years is closer to average. their racing career is about 7 years, tops. horses begin racing as a 2 year old. 3 year olds are considered in their prime. that's why the Derby is for 3 years olds only.

after the 3 year old racing season horses can be handicapped, by that they are required to carry weight. never as a 3 year old, only 4 year olds and up.

lol you don't take a horse that won 350k in stakes winnings to a glue factory. and that was 1980s purse money. double that today, at least.
There is a boarding stable not far from my house where people keep their Horses. Sometimes when I pass by a few Horses are out grazing and what not. Not all of them are Quarter Horses from time to time I think I've seen a few Thoroughbreds out there. They look different they are gorgeous maybe the ones I've seen were racers in their youth. This place appears to be quite Large. I've been to a few Horse Races, my father use to go bet on the races when he lived in Oklahoma it's a nice outing.
