It would be the pinnacle to find a cheap beach house, maybe in Texas or Louisiana, or Georgia, or maybe Florida idk.

There are still rural areas in NWA where you can buy a home, with land for that. People laugh, but it's beautiful country and Fayetteville/Bentonville has a lot to offer. For Florida, look an hour or two from the coast and you can still make that price work. Same for other gulf states. Hurricanes or tornados, pick your poison, or choose both.

You can buy a hotel room for around 150-200k. This is interesting because the maintenance on the unit will be taken care of for you, and even renting it out will be taken care of for you.
Sounds like the ultimate passive income.
There's one in Las Vegas up for grabs.

My folks retired near Fayetteville - and loved teh area and Peoples.

I thought about rural Arkansas, but it's not particularly cheaper than rural areas elsewhere. I don't want to live down a 2 mile dirt road either. That's too rural.

Go to Detroit. Or better yet buy a Motor home and travel the country side like a nomad. You'll be off the Grid and nobody will bother you.
