Looking at tomorrow weather the rain and storms won't start until the evening but it will be partly cloudy and partly sunny during the time of the eclipse

Database error with oh2. I suspect the eclipse is to blame.

I have to admit, it was more impressive than I expected. I’d been through a few partial eclipses, one of which was fairly close to a full eclipse, so when it slowly became dimmer I thought, yeah, been there done that.

Then when the moment of totality hit it was like someone had turned the dimmer switch to dusk. Birds disappeared, no more shadows, an owl hooted, mosquitos came out. It was wild. You could no longer see the sun through the glasses, but you could take quick glances without issue.

A few minutes later, the house lights came back up to dim, and then over the next half hour back to normal.

I’m glad I didn’t bah-humbug it and stay inside. I won’t say it was a life-changing experience, but it was pretty cool (oh, yeah…the temperature dropped five degrees, too).

Sun was darting in and out of the clouds at my location, and then about three minutes before totality, the cleared up. Spectacular!!

Think I’m going to find another total eclipse and travel to see it. One in Greenland and Iceland in August 2026.

That would be really cool, particularly in an uninhabited area where you could observe and record what was going on around you. I got a taste of that today, but I bet it would be amazing in a place like that.

It looked like someone turned down the dimmer, nothing especial or even worth hyping it up, I was expecting a total blackout

I would agree. I have also seen partial eclipses so I was also like "been there, done that", but when totality hit, it was surreal. Spooky but exhilarating. I could very well imagine that in the old times, when this happened, people would be really freaked out. I can understand now why people travelled from far off to witness this.

I was impressed today. Clouds cleared last minute for me like other person said. Also saw a tornado of black birds about 5 minutes before it started them they disappeared.
