Can you say "straw man" arguments?

I just read back through this entire thread.

1. Nobody said we should automatically respect every person who has ever served in our military.

2. Nobody claimed the New Orleans terrorist was an "illegal".

3. Nobody said he should be deported.

Who are you arguing with, tommy?

Evidently not with anyone on this board.

Why bother when we have your cliff notes? Much better use of your time than mine

Cliff notes? I thought you preferred videos. You know, to pick up things like facial expressions, tone of voice and body language. That way we can all benefit from your enhanced powers of perception. Help us out here.

I think you are confusing me with tommy.

Are you skeered to watch it because it has a trigger warning?

Just moved from another thread to this one, where it is more on-topic:

Can you imagine what would happen if a radical Catholic splinter group started blowing up mosques or driving vehicles into crowds in Muslim countries? The Pope would immediately condemn, disown and ex-communicate them and call for their eradication in no uncertain terms!

Islam need to clean up its act. Yeah, these cockroaches represent a minority within the global Muslim community but they give ALL Muslims a bad name! Why the fuck do the majority of Muslims and the leaders of their faith tolerate it?

These two things can both be true:

1. Most Muslims are not terrorists.

2. Most terrorists are Muslim.

You haven't read this thread very carefully. I'll just leave it at that.

More carefully than you. I didn't duck, deflect, evade or resort to straw men either.

Let's not forget Robert Bowers who shot the "Tree of Life" synagogue up.

He was an anti-Semitic who hated Jews and blamed them for the migrant caravans coming into the country.

( I wonder who constantly gaslight their watchers on TV 24/7 regarding immigrants).

Ultimately not a "international terrorist" but certainly a domestic one. His defense stated the following:

"In my opinion they are not delusional and they are not the result of a neurological disease," he said.

After looking over Bower’s MRI, PET and EEG brain tests, Darby said Bowers’ brain appeared largely normal to him. The only abnormality appeared to be small white regions in his brain, but Darby said these were “very common” in patients and are typically associated with vascular disease.

Bowers’ history as a “lifelong smoker” would be one of the most likely explanations for the vascular disease that caused the brain abnormalities. Darby also testified that, after a back injury during a job at a bakery, Bowers began to take prescription opioids and sometimes heroin when he couldn’t obtain prescription pills.

A scan of Robert Bowers' brain.
U.S District Court Western District Of Pennsylvania
Both defense and prosecution expert witnesses acknowledge that Robert Bowers' brain had white matter abnormalities, like the ones identified here in a defense expert report. The prosecution's expert witness said Wednesday these abnormalities are common and could be caused by Bowers' smoking.
It was normal for Bowers to alternate between periods of working for a trucking company and then not working. Bowers told Darby that he made good money as a trucker but that he had to be on the road six days per week, so he often took time off and lived off his savings. When Bowers attacked the synagogue in 2018 he had been unemployed since 2017 and living off his savings. Bowers said this was typical, Darby testified.

Bowers spent around five years caring for his elderly grandfather, according to Darby. He even showed evidence of sophisticated abstract thought, sometimes using analogies to illustrate his points.

Darby said Bowers even had explanations for some of his past behavior that the defense experts described as suicidal. Bowers said he was fired from a bakery job in 2004 after 14 years for stealing money and, as a result, was going to lose his ability to stay in the apartment above the bakery for free. Bowers told Darby that he called the police and told them he was suicidal because he wanted to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital for a few days in order to figure out his next living situation.

Seems like they threw the kitchen sink at his defense and still flopped. The authorities fucked up with allowing his legal cache of guns to remain in his custody while he admitted to addiction, depression and finally his antisemitism.

Interesting that they would use the old his chronic use of opioids, and cigarettes as the reason for his brain issues. Word of caution to you cigarette smokers, I don't know that I agree that cigarette smoking causes issues with brain degradation, as most brilliant scientists like Oppenheimer were known to be smokers - but it sure does degrade air quality in the bars in Pittsburgh that still allow it.

Any terrorists who cause mass casualty deaths need to meet sparky the equalizer aka our high voltage friend, who will set you on a quick path to meeting your maker of choice.

What creates a domestic terrorist btw?

Is it a perception of being wronged?

Mental health?

Incited to take action by those who have influence over their thoughts?

my experience is that people take action vs. using words, when the words just don't have any effect. Much like how rioters start to burn and destroy any locations (wilding), and often in their own backyards, as that is part n parcel to where they see the wrongs- I don't condone any terrorism- by the US, or against the US, or groups. But I don't think you can just toss it away to madness- it typically stems from deeper resentments that are either based in truth, or in doctrination.

Think about that for a moment when we look at our domestic terrorists. Are they looking at truth or doctrinations?

I'd say the majority of it are in the latter. When was the last time Jews did any caravan promoting or making of space lasers for starting fires?

When was the last time Republicans- took away a womans right to choose? oops that one is based in truth. LOL (you knew it was coming didn't you)

Philosophical differences on approaches to problems need to find the statesmen in this country; vs. the tribal approach. That has fixed nothing- but creating a distrust in each other- fellow men. But those who stoke the differences can also claim some responsibility in the weakminded being moved to take action against fellow countrymen.

Just my 2 cents on some of the creating of domestic terrorists.

Sad indeed.

Las Vegas cyber-truck guy was an active duty member of our military, which may be pertinent info for some.

Wow, you quoted Fox?

If you had listened to Fox more, the topic of gangs in the military, and soldiers who have become radicalized while serving have been topics many times in the past.

This is nothing new.

It was always rumored the Tim Mcveigh had a overseas connection, likely Muslim, and probably one of the reasons they put him down so quickly.

But Fox also claimed that NOLA guy was one of them thar "illegals" who crossed the border at Eagle Pass, TX - which turned out to be totally made-up bullshit that they've since retracted. Lol.

Both of these can be true.

1. All illegals should receive no benefits and be deported.
2. Islam is not compatible with western ideology. We should not try to force the mixing of cultures.

Yes we know the NO terrorist wasn’t an illegal. But there are enough examples of Muslims not assimilating to western culture. The experiment needs to be over. Look at the UK as an example.
