If you think cabbies losing their jobs is bad you have no idea whats coming...

I'm involved w/ AI on the daily (tangentially). If you can't work with your hands or do analysis and business communication, your job is threatened... All these kids you see going to college... hell even the teachers, they are ALL likely to lose whatever jobs they have when AI starts to get leveraged in a wide spread manner in the business world.

It's staggering the potential job losses.

Think about this...assume that X gets those robots working... you can have it drive you everywhere... everyone gets FSD retro-fitted. It's going to eliminate the rush hour... but then without a job, you won't have anywhere to go...lol.

I actually work in this industry every day. I'm certain I understand LLMs, AI and the issues associated with it way better than you do. What you wrote is pretty much bullshit I could get from newsmax. Everyone but the MAGAs on here can safely ignore this guy's bullshit.

A couple of those vehicles got lost in downtown Austin during the evening rush and just stopped dead in the street, one in an intersection. Cops had to hand direct traffic until they could get those goofy bastards out of the way.

That said, i was talking to some people who took one around the downtown area and the cost was half what they'd pay a regular uber.

I think in decent weather on some routes they can work fine. Lets see them go in 12" of snow or ICE. What if a car is running through a severe storm? A real driver would consider changing course or stopping somewhere safer. Roads can flash flood and be dangerous to cross. Even some sort of road rage sabotage is possible with a rider in the car. These are edge cases, some more edgy than others, but real scenerios that come up. The more robo taxis on the road the more likely something like this will come up.
