In the 1930s, my father faced the type of anti-semitism we have seen on American University cam buses. But he was in eastern Europe. His family sent him to live in the USA. At one time or another, he took classes at Colombia and NYU. Then he spent three years at Colby College in Main. He dropped out for the duration of WW-II.
Sadly, half the family that remained in Hungary did not survive the Nazi extermination. ?Those that did endured Soviet oppression for the rest of their lives.
Whatever the left wants to call it, what has gone on on (is continuing) at these universities, it is not "free speech". It is inciting anti-jewish and anti-christian genocide. All this has been seen before and where it leads too is painfully known.

Columbia was found to have committed discrimination against Jewish students and as a recipient of Federal funds they can get those funds cut off and clearly Columbia thought they had no valid defense which is important to note. so they settled.
this is about Columbia discriminating against Jewish students and not Trump or the supreme court

Ah. See you are putting on your parallex spectacles on again. Like the court doesn't fly counter to precedence to give the orange baby what he wants. Puh-leeze.
And just lord donny? Why is he slipping in your eyes? Are you coming to an epiphany on where the orange one is leading us? Gird your loins and bolster yourself. This is no time to show weakness.
We all know he is *trumping* up excuses so as to punish those that won't french his prostrate. He has spewed way worse vile against others than what has happened on that campus.
Now, if you could show me where these jew hating masses have the brown shirts beating them, set up delousing facilities, gas chambers and such, i'll be 1000% backing you up on that.
But until you can show an organized campus community that has it out for that one narrow group, pfffttt. I'm sure other groups of people have felt slighted/whatever and know the channels to address such but I don't hear from them.

There is plenty of real antisemitism in the US but this campaign to punish universities is not helpful to the jewish community nor society as a whole.

Yup. He'll hide behind the flimsiest excuse to get his way.

There are jewish students on the campuses that have stated that donnys actions are more harmful all around than the punitive effect they are suppose to have on the school.

This has nothing to do with antisemitism. It has everything to do with the government controlling the schools speech and actions. They want the schools to knuckle under to their demands by threatening to withhold federal funding allocated under congressional approval.
It’s the right wing’s version of the Socialist Education Movement that the Chinese implemented under Mao Zedong.
State control of the education system.

nonsense. all presidents have tried to sway the Courts in the process of appointing judges and justices. why is Trump any different for it?

I do not see how the issues of free speech and anti-semitism, or hate speech in general),can be separated in the discussion of with holding funds from these universities in order to incentivize them to squelch discrimination against religious minorities on the part of faculty and students.
In many repeated, this is a civil rights matter. Jewish students have been forcibly prevented from attending class, studying in libraries and even prevented from setting foot on campus . . .under the explicit threat of violence. This is the stuff of Germany in the 1930s.

If so, show me the last three times that the demmies sat on their hands appointing a SC justice? ...or going against their words and shunting one in without the normal due process? The party of NO took it upon themselves to uphold the mantle of Do Nothing Repubs.
And it doesn't matter what my feelings for him are. It was mitch that orchestrated it and found a compliant donny to deal with in making it happen. So, don't be like your thin skinned orange baby buddy and let feelings get in the way. It really clouds your judgement.

Unlike you whose metric for veracity is Nielsen Ratings, I do check out the news when I can.
I actually get a subscription to a paper that is published in a diehard Red State that has a media bias of being extremely Right Wing *AND* highly factual.
Would you care to tell us what newspapers you have delivered to your domicile?

Oh, you Grump-a-Lumpolus. I'll be a lamb for your and shepard you to where you can find such.
It first was broadcast on National Palestian Radio. How that happened with no government funding? Who knows? But it did. But as I always say, if you want to know something, go straight to the horses mouth. The paper published on Columbia campus (I would guess that is the location, so let's just say school paper) quotes name and verse of said students. That is easily found with the gooogly search.
Do you need me to do that for you?

Students share mixed reactions to Columbia’s $200 million settlement with Trump administration
Eight students shared their perspectives on the settlement in interviews with Spectator following its announcement. While some were happy that the deal restored Columbia’s federal funding, others called it “plain and simple capitulation” and worried how it would affect the University’s independence.

BAHHAAAAAA
mixed reaction doesn't prove much does it?

Harry Reid
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_option
The nuclear option was invoked on November 21, 2013, when a Democratic majority led by Harry Reid used the procedure to reduce the cloture threshold for nominations, other than nominations to the Supreme Court, to a simple majority. [3] On April 6, 2017, the nuclear option was used again, this time by a Republican majority led by Mitch McConnell, to extend that precedent to Supreme Court nominations, in order to enable cloture to be invoked on the nomination of Neil Gorsuch by a simple majority. [4][5][6]
The use of the nuclear option to abolish the 60-vote threshold for cloture on legislation has been proposed, but not successfully effected.
