Not surprising since there is less trade going on.

Businesses closing and ports running at 60% capacity.

Let's see what the tariffs do to the economy over the next few months.

Cost of goods increasing will do that. So will companies using the last of their inventory before making new purchases at high tariff related prices. Everyone said it'd be September October before we see the real increases from the tariffs because inventory would start running low. We're getting there and well see what the effect of the tariffs is.

The tariff effect is businesses are shutting down...ports at 60% capacity..imports and exports decreasing which will lower gdp...prices rising.

If that is fine to you, maybe you can put in a job application to replace the fired commissioner.

How many people is it now that Trump has fired ?

... Those government jobs are NOT supposed to be
for life, mate... Governmental employees do seem
to come and go all the time.
Maybe they can learn to code. ...

But let's wander back to the Economic news - which is ok.

[D]ump defends the US economy with charts after job reports showed warning signs

Quote:
Flipping through a series of charts on an easel, Moore sought to elevate [D]ump’s performance as president and diminish the economic track record of former President Joe Biden. [D]ump stood next to Moore and interjected with approvals.

Who’s gonna believe these numbers? I’m sure some retards will - and Fox News/Newsmax/Fox Business - and Trump sycophants - and MAGA idiots. Everyone else knows these “new” numbers pulled from Moore’s ass are bullshit.

Thanks Tiny. You asked for this.

Stephen Moore is an untrustworthy hack and is known for making up his numbers to validate his own claims.

An editor at the Kansas City Star wrote. “I won’t be running anything else from Stephen Moore.”

So says Miriam Pepper, editorial page editor of the Kansas City Star—and not just because she’s retiring this week. Pepper’s no-Moore stance comes after her paper discovered substantial factual errors in a recent guest op-ed by Moore, the chief economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation.

The question becomes why Trump and his administration is listening to someone who consistently gets his facts wrong. Other than the obvious reason in that it supports his lies.

In Hannah Arendt’s classic book “The Origins of Totalitarianism,” she explained why totalitarians promote the incompetent:

Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.

Arendt also explained, in advance, the Trump administration’s extraordinary hostility to research, the extraordinary speed with which it is destroying America’s scientific base:

The consistent persecution of every higher form of intellectual activity by the new mass leaders springs from more than their natural resentment against everything they cannot understand. Total domination does not allow for free initiative in any field of life.

We’re moving into a new era where expertise and education is being dismissed and being replaced by gut feelings and poor assumptions.

P.S. Some of the above came from a Paul Krugman article as well as an article in the Columbia Journalism Review. I don’t want to take credit for other people’s work.
