When you let an egomaniac in charge of foreign tariff policies- what did you think was going to happen? It's like asking your lawn service guy to do brain surgery. "He knows his way around sharp stuff".

Trump barely survived college per all accounts, and his econ-professor said he was the god-damned dumbest student he ever had. But sure-let him in charge of how we do economic policy and tariffs.

Drumpf's got Peter Navarro on his shoulder chirping about tariffs etc. and they are good!; and the purely uneducated followers he loves to gaslight to delight all exclaim that he's a 3 d chess playing econ champion. They bought into it, so here Trump is doing his best to convince everyone, that "he" and only "King HE" can do what was originally delegated to congress to implement. You know-where a team of actual people who know how that shit works, sits together with the countries of other origins and figures out what is fair and what is just- versus a universal cast of a net - in inflame and infuriate ALL people who do business with the US.

Canada has the right idea- they told us to pound salt and they would raise equally tariffs, and how about that wonderful tourism trade that isn't happening from them or other countries. To date the estimate is close to 13 billion and rising. Great job asshole. Crops going to waste with nobody to harvest- great job asshole. Housing going up with labor losses and goods costs rising- great job asshole. But Billions in Tariffs raised- and paid by the best patrons of all. AMERICANS.

Imagine if you were told that your federal income tax would go up 2k per yr, but you were not getting taxed on overtime or SS?! How that would be fair to the lowest wage earners while the highest get tax breaks? Consumers like low income earners- spend 85-100% of their pay on consumption, and will pay the biggest burden on these tariffs.

Leave it to Republicans to give you a nickel in your right pocket, while they are taking dollars out of the left pocket. And all you RedHats think this is terrific. Absolute insanity and stupidity.

Another TACO platter?

Quote:
US president Donald Trump has played down the prospect of imposing so-called “secondary tariffs” on buyers of Russian oil after his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Trump had proposed the levies as a new way of pressuring Russia’s war-time economy if it failed to stop its invasion of Ukraine, and they were largely due to impact China and India, by far the two biggest buyers of Russian crude.

Crikey, you missed the part about the OG tariff plan being shelved because the markets tanked while you were trying to make some case early oh about the DOGE savings covering the cost.

And the TACO factor that's led to multiple 90 day extensions for Chinese goods

Just the beginning. CPI will come out and it's going to be a horror show. It's supposed to be out on a familiar date;

SEPTEMBER 11th.

Instead of terrorists launching planes into buildings to cause a panic and markets to run topsy turvy, it will be the current administration launching inflation into every damned thing we buy. It's no small wonder that Trump fired the BLS commissioner. That math will be all sorts of wonky- and will be done to hide the damage that DJT has solely and singularly been responsible for. But he won't be able to hide this simple fact.

114 companies have announced layoffs in August of 2025 according to Newsweek. -Which is an uptick from July. the list of companies is huge. .https://www.newsweek.com/august-layo...oyment-2106620

Warntracker.com www.warntracker.comsuggest that this is just the beginning of whats to come from the economic slowdown and inflation from tariffs. No surprise here- More shocking that the emporer is just destroying our economy which has been always based on consumption vs. investment, government spending or GDP. This wholesale model change will prove to be a complete fiasco and those without any savings will be the ones to pay the biggest price.

If you have a problem with homelessness- you're about to see it get a lot worse in urban areas and the have nots will not be happy about it.

It's going to be the beginning of a very very long and cold winter- Chekov.
