Here is a breakdown of the prices during August 2024:
August 8: The national average was about $3.45 per gallon.
August 15: The average price was approximately $3.44 per gallon.
August 22: The national average fell to $3.38 per gallon.
August 29: The national average was around $3.36 per gallon, continuing the downward trend.

this works out to $3.40 average in august 2024

august 2025

AI Overview
The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in August 2025 was approximately $3.13 per gallon according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) also reported a similar average, with different data sources showing prices around $3.13-$3.17. This represents a decrease from the previous year but was stable with slight fluctuations during the month, influenced by crude oil prices and regional factors

guess its where you find the numbers since there is a difference

That's exactly why I have consistently used GasBuddy for the specific daily locals and AAA for the area average, state and nationals.

You can get current, daily, weekly, monthly and annual all in one place

Bottom line, reduce PA gas taxes to bring cheaper gas prices to the public.

Locally we have had dozens of depression era bridges replaced.

PA is large, has too many roads to maintain, especially I 80.

Do or don't, you'll be blamed either way.

... Ye Christ! ... How sad! ...

... One o' the posters inferred that Trump was either "wrong" or "lying"
about petrol-gas prices BELOW $2 a gallon - AND THERE IT WAS!

... BOTH the likes of GasBuddy and CBS-News reporting on gas price
in Evans, Colorado --- $1.99 a gallon CASH $$$ Price!
... Just for a day or two - as a Promotion!

... So, there we have it - President Trump telling the TRUTH.
(Crikey! ... The lies the Trump-haters spew... )

... And - State of Michigan - Average price $2.79 a gallon.
... The LOWEST PRICE since 2021...

He claimed it for months Salty, nationally here, as the avg price for a state there. It always interesting to watch you fluff his talking point but we ain't got time for that.

No spin, no fluffing

Wait - so if trumpy says something that eventually comes true, you don't have time to hear about it? It's just "fluffing" a "talking point"?

Wow... TDS squared.

Pa has the second highest gas tax in the country. If we were inline with Ohio and WVa we would have sub $3 gas too. Can’t blame that on Trump.

I usually disregard special sale prices as being representative of the norm

And claims about prices today when they're wrong today. If you tell me today's price is $1 but it's really $3 I'm not going to call you Nostradamus if hits $1 next month. I'm going to call you wrong today.

I'm no Nostradamus... but I predict Gristle will take a dump today!

Question: Would you rather have a POTUS who (arguably) cheerleads a little too enthusiastically while pursuing energy policies that lower gas prices?

Or... would you prefer a POTUS who declares war on our fossil-fuel industry on Day 1, then lies by blaming everyone but himself when his policies result in an entirely predictable rise in prices at the pump?
