It all traces back to late 1992. George Bush Sr. lost the November election and was preparing to leave office. Somalia had collapsed into an ugly, failed state. While "warlords" fought, the population was starving. The UN attempted to distribute food relief in Mogadishu, but (like Hamas in Gaza) the feuding militias were seizing the supplies and blocking the aid distribution. In Dec. 1992, Bush Sr. sent 28,000 US troops to Mogadishu to secure the UN relief effort. This set the stage for "Black Hawk Down" ten months later. By then, Clinton was POTUS. The mission was a failure. He ordered our troops to withdraw in March 2004.
For over 30 years now, Somalia has been a failed state. Minnesota liberals saw this as a "virtue-signaling" opportunity, so they started offering asylum to Somalis. Before long, thousands emigrated to the US and took residence in a close-knit community in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, which came to be known as "Little Mogadishu". Once they gained US citizenship, they voted overwhelmingly for Democrats and helped tilt the state into the Blue column. However, this may be changing. Exit polls showed 23% of them voted for Trump in 2024, up from 13% in 2020. They don't like the way Minnesota libtards under Tampon Tim are promoting a woke, pro-LBGT+ agenda in their schools and community.
