Your response to what I said makes zero sense. I said nothing about Mamdani nor his proposals. I was calling out the absurdity that MAGA gives...or has ever given....a flying FUCK about NYC. Your inference from this that I somehow don't "know" history is similarly baffling.

Yup. Used for symbolism.
Again, are you from NYC?
I've stated in the past, repeatedly, and I *think* you agreed that if someone didn't have primary residence at a place, they have no say in what the voters there chose.
So, show us proof of residence or admit you're trolling.
I don't give a hoot. Just speculating on why those who have no say butting into stuff that ain't their say.
BUT butting in and leaving shit stains seems to be a maggie thing.

let me inform you of the stated purpose of this forum
The Political Forum Discuss anything related to politics in this forum. World politics, US Politics, State and Local.
cite the forum guidelines that allow you decide who does or does not reply to threads?
NYC and Mandami are a valid political topic regardless of where a poster lives. Yes?
here's some light reading on the topic ..
Zohran Mamdani is promising lots of things he can’t actually do
A few reasons to be relaxed about the plans of the Democratic front-runner to be New York’s mayor
https://www.economist.com/united-sta...nt-actually-do
Like many politicians running for office, Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old New York Democratic mayoral candidate, is partly a fabulist. His story includes tax rises on the wealthy and businesses, free buses, free child care and a $30 minimum wage by 2030. Whether or not these are good ideas, most have as little likelihood of becoming tangible as one of Italo Calvino’s odd, enchanting, invisible cities

In one or some of the previous comments in this thread, someone asked me why I felt/thought Mamdani should had taken the oath on the Bible instead of on the Quran?
This is why:
Every person who ran for political office, whether it's city, county, state, federal, when sworn in, they are all required to take an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
GOOGLE:
Quote:
every person elected or appointed to a
federal, state, county, or city office is required to take an oath or affirmation to support the U.S. Constitution. This requirement is explicitly stated in Article VI, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution
|
Every one of those person being sworn into a federal, state, county, or city office should take the oath on the Bible because George Washington, this country's very first President, did it.
I don't care there is no legal requirement for it but it should be done because it's tradition.
Just like there is no legal requirement to eat turkey on Thanksgiving but we do it anyway every year by the 46 millions turkeys because it's tradition.
Just like there is no legal requirement to sing the National Anthem at Public Events like a Football or Baseball game but we still do it anyway because AGAIN, It's TRADITION!
Taking the oath of office, any office, on the Quran, a religious document worshipped by our enemies who are responsible for 9/11 and other terrorist attacks against the USA and against other countries around the world, is not credible for a person and for Mamdani who took the oath to

Well I am so glad to see that you support the freedom of religion guaranteed by the first amendment to the constitution that Mayor Mamdani has just given an oath to protect and defend.

Awwww. The little maggie playbook maneuver of trying to take higher ground by stating a slim sliver, taken from a parallex view that only accentuates their pov. Let's listen....
The Political Forum Discuss anything related to politics in this forum. World politics, US Politics, State and Local.

Well, if you want me to cite guidelines, let's not do a microscopic version of them. Let's go to the abbreviation of this websites name: ESCORT COMMUNITY INFORMATION EXCHANGE.
"Become a part of one of the fastest growing adult communities online. We have something for you, whether you’re a male member seeking out new friends or a new lady on the scene looking to take advantage of our many opportunities to network, make new friends, or connect with people. Join today & take part in lively discussions, take advantage of all the great features that attract hundreds of new daily members!"
So, you just come here to be a horsefly in the PF section or are you here to exchange some info about hookers? You follow that main credo and i'll answer the subset questions....maybe just maybe WHEN you show that you can do the same.
NYC and Mandami are a valid political topic regardless of where a poster lives. Yes?
Great topics. But none that concern me and, for the lack of input, you. So our neuron-to-keyboard response don't mean squat. I'd rather listen to those that voted the guy in.
here's some light reading on the topic ..
<blah> <blah> <blah> As I said, pedal it somewhere else. Does me no good unless I move to NYC. Their will has already been stated at the ballet box.

Try telling that to a person with Almish (sp) roots. Ain't gonna see them lay a hand on a book for a swearing in.

Trivia:
At George Washington's swearing in ceremony, there was originally no bible present. A fellow rushed to the nearby Masons lodge to fetch one.
Nor was (or is) 'so help me God' a formal part of the oath of office in the Constitution's text.
Trivia on observing swearing in traditions:
Donald Trump became the first former president in over 150 years to skip his successor's swearing-in in 2021

There is sooooo much wrong with this post. But I'll single out this part above.
The Quran is the central religious text of Islam, with 1.8 Billion adherents.
Most of them are friends, allies, just plain good people.
It is disgraceful, insulting, and the height of ignorance to say that this work is not "credible" and to imply that it is a tool of our "enemies."

Mandani using the Koran as a swearing-in prop is OK with me.
It tells everyone exactly who he is.

Amen.
Judging by his recent wild posts, I’m not sure he even knows what he’s saying that’s inaccurate or just flat wrong.
Just a stream of Islamophobia wrapped up in a poorly bespoke wrapper.
LOLLING!
