if Greenland or Denmark decided to play tough and renege on U.S. treaties or offer China or Russia "most favored nation" status in Greenland, the U.S. would always have a military option on the table. big guns will stay big guns for the foreseeable future.

but that's not what's happening here. Denmark and Greenland are ready to play ball on military expansion-the sky's the limit-and even on minerals. Trump is just being greedy.

and getting to those minerals is on a geological time scale. 50 or 100 years might not do it. it may take 500 years or more.

i agree with Trump that Greenland's ice sheet and glaciers are doomed because of anthropomorphic climate change-which, hilariously, he adamantly denies-but the time scale is a complete unknown. and he wants to wreck the current world order for a payoff that may take 1000 years. for all we know, America may not even be a thing in 1000 years. it's fucking insanity..

and all that just to meet Trump's psychological needs. he even said so explicitly. this is why you don't want a narcissist running the country..

he wrecks everything he touches-reverse Midas effect-including all the casinos he drove into bankruptcy. how does one lose money on a casino? that takes some real talent..

he never pays any federal income tax because his businesses lost billions of dollars. how is that even possible..

just checked AI on how long to melt Greenland's ice sheets and glaciers. the answer? 2,000 to 10,000 years. no shit. feel free to fact check me.

so on the matter of Greenland, just. fuck. Trump..

Trump wants more than expanded military presence. the 1951 agreement provides for that. what if Denmark/Greenland reneges on that? what does NATO do? they don't have the authority to arbitrate that.

Trump wants control of resources to prevent China and Russia access to them. how likely would Greenland welcome in Russia and China? unlikely but NATO couldn't stop that.

just allowing China and Russia access to resources is a security risk. that appears to ne Trump's endgame here. to make sure that never happens.

“Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT”

He’s a fucking idiot. If anything, he’s succeeding at hiding the Epstein files, which, let’s face it, is his only real goal as president.

All this other shit is window dressing.

He’s got the mind of a child, unchecked and enabled his Hole life.

Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle will not allow this. Maybe the Republicans will finally stand up to him on this.

One way or another, he will not succeed.

Would it be a good deal for the USA? I don't think so. That's a lot of money. Wouldn't it make more sense to get about 20 locations where the USA could have bases, like Guantanamo, that would remain in U.S. hands come what may?

And how about some mining concessions for rare earth materials and other strategic minerals? The biggest reserves of U.S. rare earths are in California, and fat chance of doing something big with them. Mining and processing rare earths are not exactly environmentally friendly. Well, in a territory that's bigger than Mexico with only 57,000 people, that's not a big deal. Greenland could be like the Permian Basin of rare earths!

There's virtually no chance there will be a war over this. Trump's bluffing.
TIny, despite your always even handed demeanor, your tacit willingness to accept this scenario is telling. Might a well be wearing a read hat, bro.

Japan?
South Korea?
Israel?

It’s time to put an end to this tragedy in progress.

MAGA - and all their little fascist friends - must be stopped.

That said, every threat Trump makes to our Eurpoean family - which is what they ARE after all - will translate into votes in both the primaries and in November.

This bullshit is not playing well with the voting public OR Congress, as multiple polls indicate.

Maybe the fat bastard doesn’t have the mental acuity to realize that he’s headed down the road the end of the cliff.

Chit. Congressional Republicans may do the job before we voters have the chance.

One can only hope.

Bessent toes the company line. In the same interview I believe he also defended the DOJ’s investigation of the Fed Chairman, even though two sources say he tried to get it called off.

One of the things MAGAtards carry on about is that the country is broke and we need to scale back all social expenditures…….

Where do these geniuses think they are going to get the money to finance paying each Greenlander a few million bucks?

Especially after cutting tax revenue?

This whole Greenland thing is because Trump has his nose outta joint because he can’t get a Nobel Peace prize……and his participation medal from that dumb cunt in Venezuela wasn’t enough after everyone laughed at him.

What do you disagree with Yssup? You realize exploiting rare earth deposits in Greenland costs a lot more than buying the materials from China. And the only thing that's going to cause companies to invest are government subsidies. While I'm one of the biggest fans of free markets here, that's something the U.S. needs to do (subsidize rare earths). If the USA forked over the cash to make it happen, why wouldn't Greenland want to issue permits to companies that would guarantee the U.S. some percentage of the output? It would be a boon to their economy. And as to the military bases, if you believe the press there's already a treaty in place that lets the USA do whatever it wants, and Greenland and Denmark are both happy to honor it.

Tiny, i don't disagree with a single thing you said..

so wtf is wrong with our mad king..

not one single proposal you made which isn't 100% attainable without changing one. damn. thing. today.

military expansion? check.

minerals exploration? check.

rare earths? check.

profit sharing? check.

cutting off Russia and China at the Arctic pass? check.

strengthening NATO? check.

bringing the world's greatest military to impose its will on a future hotspot? check.

letting the Netherlands continue to pay for the Greenlandic dole that we can't afford? check.

saving the U.S. Treasury from more unsustainable debt? check.

avoiding investing real (borrowed) money today in a payoff that's likely hundreds of years in the future at best? check.

but our fragile ego-ed narcissistic orange man child is surrendering everything...for absolutely nothing in return that we don't already have..

i think a clearly impeachable offense, under the High Crimes and Misdemeanors standard, due to violating international law, attacking a treaty ally, and far exceeding presidential power under the U.S. Constitution..

among other things, Congress declares war, not the president..

3rd time's the charm. Trump's luck will finally run out, i predict..

so Trump can go hat in hand in supplication to Congress to see if they support..sheer madness. fat chance of that..

and, the Dow tumbles while Canada signs trade deals with China, yields on the 10 year t-bill spiked, and the U.S. greenback tumbles..again. this is what happens when Captain Ahab is at the helm..

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnb...e-updates.html

the world has completely loss confidence in U.S. leadership. because we have a clown for a leader..

Trump, with his Greenland obsession, is doing a great job of what Putin and Russia failed at for a number of years...Dividing and weakening NATO.
