I've read two biographies on Trump's pre-presidential days and have been business partners with two people who are like Trump. Based on that here's my take.

There are two ways to succeed in business.

1. Develop good relationships. You treat your customers, suppliers, bankers and investors like you'd want to be treated. You make them want to work with you.

2. Take no prisoners. You gouge said customers, suppliers, bankers and investors. That increases your profits, but you have to find new customers, suppliers, bankers and investors after you burn the old ones.

Trump has practiced "2". Trump's formative years in business were spent negotiating with New York cement companies and taking advice from Roy Cohn. He's just applying lessons from being a successful "Type 2" businessman to the world stage, in trying to acquire Greenland.

And it's about his legacy too. From today's NYT,

Asked why ownership was important instead of just fortifying Greenland, he said, “Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success.” Asked if he meant psychologically important for himself or psychologically important for the country, he said, “Psychologically important for me.”

Here's an analogy. In this story, Donald Trump is Elon Musk, I'm Denmark, and the sugarbaby is Greenland.

I've got a sugarbaby. She's hot as hell. Elon Musk wants the same gal. But she's "in love" with me. So Elon's got two choices. He can send his goons around and threaten to beat the hell out of me if I don't give her up. I've always had a respect for those that held the office in the past. Regardless if I liked the way they guide the country or not. I could respect them.

trump is the first potus that I will not have respect for. There are some things I do like about him but the baggage he has attached to him has tarnished that shit to where I can't see it anymore.

And he's gonna end up like his buddy.

I'd like people here to show us how well respected his buddy Cohn is. Guy is totally reprehensible. Good riddance to him. And donny is on the same path as his idol.

About the second part, please note that there's map projection distortion at northerly latitudes. Greenland looks like it's as big as Africa. But it's really about the size of Saudi Arabia.

What is the most frustrating is that few reports on the whole history of Greenland and how the United States has been working to get it for over 100 years and quite a few Presidents.

The other thing that isn't get mentioned is China setting up I think mining, but at least some business arrangement with Greenland that is close enough to U.S. base to limit activities the base can do.

The bottom line is that today's journalists really are not telling as truthful facts and all the facts to make proper judgements. There are a few journalists that do give some historical content, but they are hard to find and source reliably.
